4.0 out of 5 stars Good but it's small
This hitting mat is perfect for what I wanted for hitting into a net in our back yard. The feel is great and it is very durable so far. Don't be surprised though, it is very small. This is no driving range mat, it's only a bit larger than a piece of paper. Then again if you aren't precise enough to hit a ball off of a mat this size, you have larger problems than a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, as long as you don't mishit
I've been using the mat for a few weeks now, and it worked mostly as I needed it to. However, since I'm a beginner, I'm not always the best hitter. While it does slide around a bit with a good "divot" type hit, the one thing I didn't count on was taking out half of the tee holder when I had it set up so that it was at the front side of my shot, hitting off the grass/mat...

I've been using the mat for a few weeks now, and it worked mostly as I needed it to. However, since I'm a beginner, I'm not always the best hitter. While it does slide around a bit with a good "divot" type hit, the one thing I didn't count on was taking out half of the tee holder when I had it set up so that it was at the front side of my shot, hitting off the grass/mat. Two of the four "pieces" that are used to hold a tee in place snapped off when my club went a little too low for too great a distance, and flew across my lawn with the ball I hit. I've yet to find one of the two pieces. Not very well constructed, but I can still use it for most purposes without the tee holder.

This hitting mat is perfect for what I wanted for hitting into a net in our back yard. The feel is great and it is very durable so far. Don't be surprised though, it is very small. This is no driving range mat, it's only a bit larger than a piece of paper. Then again if you aren't precise enough to hit a ball off of a mat this size, you have larger problems than a hitting mat will solve. It does weigh enough to keep from moving when you hit off of it unless you take a really big divot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gread mat for the price., September 21, 2009

I bought this mat the other day in order to protect my back yard from my golf clubs. It's a great hitting mat for the money. It's a little small, but more than enough for practicing in the yard.

When my kids (7 and 5) took up golf, they started practicing with whiffle balls on my lawn, creating serious divots. I bought these so that they would not touch the lawn. They hit the ball and then pick up the matt and walk to their ball, under which they slide this. It is a good, strong, lawn saver.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value for the money, February 6, 2011
This review is from: Callaway FT Launch Zone Hitting Mat (Sports)
I really like this mat. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is definitely small. About the size of a sheet of paper. I've used mine a few times and the surface is still in great shape. Others have stated that the rubber tee is not sufficient, but I disagree. There IS an included tee that you can set the ball on and a wooden tee can slide inside there easily. Different sized wooden tees can be used, obviously, depending on height.

5.0 out of 5 stars Golf Mat, December 21, 2010

Bought this golf hitting mat because it's a quality product and stays in place after you hit off of it. You can adjust a rubber tee for height. (Tee bought separately)

3.0 out of 5 stars Great but does not hold up over time., April 18, 2010

I bought the Callaway FT Launch Zone last May for my back yard and it is really nice to hit off of. The down side is if you use irons the green grass part will separate from the mat. The heavy rubber backing is heavy, but mine fell apart after light use in 1 year. By light use I mean about 20-30 hitting sessions and a winter of sitting.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed, July 18, 2011
This review is from: Callaway FT Launch Zone Hitting Mat (Sports)
Bought as part of the 6' x 6' net kit from the local Golfsmith. Within 2 sessions of less than 100 balls the turf near the tee had ripped completely off and the back edge was pulling off the rubber.

If you are looking for a well made, quality mat, then this is it. Unfortunately it's a very small mat, but if you want quality over quantity and don't want to spend $100..this is a good choice.

Well made! Solid and heavy enough to stay in place after you hit the ball. Had one before that was light weight and I had to replace it after every swing.
