Product Description

The distance standard in irons was set in 2013 with the X HOT Iron. The new high water mark is now owned by X2 HOT. Totally new, innovative technology. Same domination.

From the Manufacturer

Hyper Speed Face Cup

For the first time ever, we’re bringing thinner, lighter and more robust faces to our hybrids. We’re talking a sweet spot that is 13 times larger than last year! So you get huge, repeat HUGE distance and higher ball speeds out of a versatile club that’s going to give you a ridiculous amount of confidence. Bottom line: the performance advancement we just made with fairway woods has been matched by our hybrids. Now that’s a quantum leap for you!

New Tour Inspired Shape

The more-iron like shape inspires confidence over the ball, enhances turf interaction and increases playability and accuracy from all types of lies. This is what Tour players want in a hybrid. Heck, it’s what all golfers want in a hybrid.

Deep Central Undercut

The new Deep Central Undercut increases the rate the face flexes and rebounds. So it increases ball speeds to make these irons even longer. And golfers seem to like that.

Stabilizing Arch

The exceptional sound and feel at high ball speeds come from a stabilizing arch that reinforces the face. You probably wouldn’t expect to get those things in a distance iron, but our R&D Team outdid themselves. Again.

Perimeter Weighting

If you like higher launch angles, more distance, stopping power on the greens and a bigger sweet spot, we developed the perimeter weighting with you in mind. What can we say; we like to give you what you want.

Lightweight Shaft Options

Lightweight Speed Step 85 – Steel shaft available in regular and stiff flexes

New lightweight Callaway Ultralite graphite shaft – More feel and control while increasing launch angles

I did all the demo days at my club and pretty much lived in the GolfSmith bays too.

In addition to the G25s I also hit the Taylormade Speed Blades, Mizuno JPX, Cobra Baffler, and the Adams XTD irons.

Nice clubs, but you still need a good golf swing to hit the ball where you want or to make it go far.

The Callaway X2 Hot irons literally added 15 to 20 yards to my shots and changed my game.

I was playing the Adams A12 OS hybrid irons because my handicap is in the 20s and I thought that I needed the "super game improvement" style clubs. After being underwhelmed with the A12 OS's I decided to upgrade. I went to New York Golf Center and finally got fitted (highly recommended). I intended to buy the Ping G25s. I hit a few shots with the G25s in the simulator and the guy immediately said "these are not for you." In addition to the G25s I also hit the Taylormade Speed Blades, Mizuno JPX, Cobra Baffler, and the Adams XTD irons. When I hit the X2 Hot irons I was amazed. I thought the simulator was exaggerating.

Come to find out that I was launching the ball plenty high but I was creating way too much spin. Most game improvement irons are designed to increase launch angle and ball spin. The X2 Hot's brought my spin rate way down while still maintaining a healthy launch angle.

Surprisingly I found the H2 Hot PW though 6 iron to be just as forgiving as the Adams A12 OS irons. The X2 Hot 4 and 5 irons are not as forgiving as the Adam 4 and 5 hybrids. That said, it's surprising that the higher irons are less forgiving than hybrids. Because of the forgiveness factor I opted for the X2 Hot 4 hybrid and 5 iron and picked up an X2 Hot 5 hybrid on ebay until I get more comfortable playing a 5 iron.

These are some really nice clubs. They are definitely worth what they cost. The hybrids are really hot off the face allowing you to swing smoother and still get a nice high soft shot into the green. Not a fan of the 4h(prefer an iron) but if you're having some trouble with longer irons this is the set. The only other set I would recommend at the moment are the callaway big bertha irons that are like hybrids shaped like irons. Those are about double the price but the face on those is really hot and the ball will just go flying. Also if you're having trouble with the driver the 2 deep is amazing and much more versatile than a driver as you can still hit it off the ground like a 3 wood. Swing these hybrids like a wood(more sweeping) not like an iron for higher softer shots.

I'm an amateur that has been playing 2.5 years and have become obsessed with getting better at golf. My starter set was TM Burners and as I got better I wanted something a little more modern and forgiving. Over the space of 6 months I hit nearly every club by every manufacturer to find which ones fit my swing. I did all the demo days at my club and pretty much lived in the GolfSmith bays too. I also attended the PGA Show in Orlando and really got to play with all the toys. I hit most clubs just as poorly or as well as my Burners so nothing really jumped out at me. During all of this, I never hit any Callaways for some reason. I was at GolfSmith one night and a Callaway X2 Hot 6 iron was lying against the wall so I gave it a shot. Flushed every shot with a tight dispersion and they flew a good 15 yards past all the other manufacturers. An employee came in and started helping me and we switched out clubs and shafts but the X2 hot's were clearly flying better for me. We even tried many different shafts in the X2 Hots and everything besides the stock steel shafts gave me a worse performance. I was hooked. Got a full set of 3-4-5 hybrid with graphite shafts and 6-SW w/ steel shafts. My game has become SO much better. I know clubs are not magic and can't fix a terrible swing, but they can certainly help compensate for off-center hits and give fantastic performance on well-struck balls. These things go so straight and far with a good hit AND a slight mishit. It's crazy how forgiving they are. The hybrids are so good it's almost like cheating. I'm so satisfied with this entire set. I've gone from a 19.6 to a 14.4 in the 4 months I've had these (with plenty of hard work in there too). They do have a little less feedback in your hands when you strike the ball than the burners did.Read more ›
