Authentic Christian Healing,
By Kelly Olson (Elkhorn, Nebraska) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Called into Healing, Reclaiming our Judeo-Christian Legacy of Healing Touch (Paperback)
How many of us have wondered how to draw on our Judeo-Christian background and our faith, in order to bring comfort to those in need of physical and spiritual healing? I know I did. This book will give you the courage and basic tools to step out and minister. Linda Smith's book is grounded in scripture, tradition and her own wealth of experience as a healthcare provider and Christian healer. Here healthcare-givers will realize new spiritual dimensions and potential in what they do each day. Parish leaders and laypeople will find that their impulses to extend Jesus' healing ministry into their community are valid and worth heeding. Here are the tools to ground their efforts in Judeo-Christian tradition, unlocking their unrealized potential as healing ministers. I highly recommend this book. Linda is a marvelous teacher, an effective writer, and a unique spiritual leader in a long-awaited, much-needed renewal of Christian healing ministry.

As we continue into an increasing awareness of complementary forms of medicine and hands-on healing, Linda Smith's book is a wonderful resource and guide. Very well researched, this work covers the history of hands-on healing from ancient through biblical to modern times and puts us back in realistic touch with our legacy and future possibilities for healing and being healed. It is an excellent guide and study tool for churches seeking to answer the biblical call to healing. For individuals as well as church groups, the section (III) on "Becoming Instruments of Healing" is an inspiring guide to the self-care and spiritual work necessary to become the channel of grace and healing Linda rightly insists we are all called to be. It has quickly become a well-read and valued part of my library.

As we enter the new millenium, Called Into Healing is both a clarion call to the church to reclaim its ministry of healing and a wonderful resource book for those who have already answered that call. A must for the library of all who are involved in healing ministry.

Linda Smith gives us a firm foundation to begin parish healing teams through Called Into Healing. Her book is written to inform, direct and inspire those who wish to explore the deeper meaning of Christian healing. I have found the information invaluable in forming a healing team in my parish. As a Certified Healing Touch Practititioner the text gives me the scriptual knowledge and spiritual perspective to be a healing presence. It has become a very important addition to my library.

For the student of the class, or for someone interested in finding out more about healing touch, this is an excellent text. The margins contain many references that enhance the material. As a student of healing touch and as a parish nurse, I would highly recommend this book to anyone considering introducing healing touch to their congregation.

Called Into Healing,
By Rev. Randall Steven Derrick (Prosperity, SC/USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Called into Healing, Reclaiming our Judeo-Christian Legacy of Healing Touch (Paperback)
Linda Smith's book is a very timely publication about current medical and scientific studies of the effects of touch, intention and loving intervention with the bioenergetic structure of all living organisms in terms of the framework of the historic JudeoChristian experience. She has done an excellent job in presenting much of the documented evidence of the reality of the positive influence on and the existence of "spirit" within all things, especially as related in the Hebrew and Christian scriptures. I highly recommend this new book to all serious persons who believe in Christ and who take seriously his call to spread the Gospel of God's love and to demonstrate that love by acts of love and healing with the intent to move everything toward wholeness and holiness."

Much Needed Parish Ministry Support,
This review is from: Called into Healing, Reclaiming our Judeo-Christian Legacy of Healing Touch (Paperback)
Ms. Smith's book is a welcomed addition to an area of Church ministry that is much in need of development. All too often lay ministers are unsure of their role in the healing aspect of parish ministry. Here is a volumn that affords the lay person hands-on tools and sage advice in this rewarding work of mercy. Thank you, Linda, for a readable, rich resource.

God put on this planet together to help each other. Yes, God uses His people to take care of each other. All Christians need to know hot to do this healing work. Also check out "A More Excellent Way" by Pastor Henry Wright for more on the spiritual roots of disease.
