This is a solid, concise introduction to lay presiding. It includes questions to consider that make it very appropriate for group training. It includes short descriptions of good and bad liturgy so that it teaches by example as well as by instruction. It also makes reference to the official documents of the Church in a manner that will lay to rest concerns about encroaching on the domain of the ordained clergy. Add to this a solid sense of liturgy by the author and one has good training material.

The book covers the full range of liturgical concerns - symbols, objects, environment, words, gestures, sprinkling, liturgical flow and timing etc. Occasionally the author makes an error e.g. use of oils by laity; and she imposes her difficulty with masculine father-son terminology upon us all. No such book will satisfy everyone ... but this volume comes as close as any.
