More About the Author

I've been writing for over 40 years now...published for 29 of those years since 1984; have fourteen novels and 8 short stories to my name...and more coming. I write traditional supernatural horror, murder mysteries and paranormal romance. I've been writing about ghosts, haunted places and evil vampires WAY LONG BEFORE Stephanie Meyer (no relation to me even though my maiden name is Meyer) and the rest of the vampire author crowd, ha, ha. And between June 2010 and July 2012 ten of my older Zebra, Leisure paperbacks and Wild Rose Press books are going to be repackaged, reprinted and rereleased for the first time in many years (and in e-books for the first time ever) from DAMNATION BOOKS www.damnationbooks.com and ETERNAL PRESS www.eternalpress.biz. Yippie! So look for them.

I'm a wife of 33 years (husband, Russell), mother (one son, James) and grandmother (two grandchildren, Caitlyn and Joshua). I was a graphic designer in the corporate world for 23 years; and have published with Dorchester, Kensington, Avalon Books, The Wild Rose Press, Damnation Books and Eternal Press. Recently, I've crossed over into e-books as well as paperbacks. I love cats and nature, classic rock and country music (my brother, JS Meyer www.jsmeyermusic.com, is a singer/songwriter and does the songs for all my self-made book trailers that are on my websites). VISIT me at www.myspace.com/kathrynmeyergriffith or www.bebo.com/kathrynmeyerG or www.authorsden.com/kathrynmeyergriffith to see all my book covers and trailers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well-researched horror novel, April 6, 2002

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Calling (Paperback)
Kathryn Meyer Griffith, author of six published horror titles, did an excellent job researching the characters and era involved in her horror novel "The Calling". The Egyptian characters mentioned in the novel actually existed, with only minor differences in the spelling of some names. The lineage described was also pretty much true to form.

The novel revolves around a middle-aged woman who has been haunted by visions all her life. The visions are of an Egyptian queen who died over 3,000 year ago. The spectre asks her to help her to uncover the mystery of the deaths of her family and reveal the truth to the world. Then, the spirits of the dead that are caught in pergatory can finally achieve peace.

The novel is well-written and rarely drags for more than a few pages. The beginning is a bit slow, but once things get started (the appearance of the evil ghosts), it continues non-stop through the entirety of the novel. The ending is a bit of a letdown... however, the book does imply that it was completed. Overall, it's a good horror novel that will keep readers of horror fiction entertained.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding, Gripping, Intriguing w/historical facts., October 24, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Calling (Paperback)
Not only is "The Calling" ripe with Egyptian historical facts, it holds something for everyone -- from daily events we can all identify with, to romance, intrigue, mystery, and a touch of the occult. It is a spellbinding tale of a venture into unknown dimensions of time and the consequences of that voyage. THE CALLING really held my interest and I burned a lot of midnight oil. I couldn't wait to see what happened next.

3.0 out of 5 stars If you have a passion for Egypt, try this one., November 16, 2011
This review is from: The Calling (Paperback)
Review by Robin: I thought that this might be an interesting story because of the ghost theme. I guess I didn't read that much of the blurb because I soon found it to be very Egyptian themed. I am not a fan of anything that has to do with Egypt but, I decided what the heck and gave The Calling a try.

Haunted by a 3,000 year old Egyptian princess, Faye Summer finds that her dreams are starting to become more real as others are able to now see and smell what she was only able to for the longest time. She is seeing the young Egyptian princess and smells flowers and citrus when she is around.

The young princess turns out to be one of Nefertiti's daughters and needs the help of Faye to find out why they were murdered so that their souls can finally find peace.

After a few unfortunate events; Faye almost dying from someone robbing the bar, leaving her in a comma for four weeks; to flying spirits in the bar that the customers could actually see.
Now Faye feels strongly about them going to Egypt to find out what actually happened to Nefertiti and her daughter's all those years ago.

Faye's husband Nick has given much strength and support to her over the years what with her seeing the spirits and everything else. But, going to Egypt when they are having trouble here at home just isn't his idea of fun.

But to support his wife off they head to put things to rest. They run into some people that help them along the way that actually have the same goal in mind.

There are many twists and turns along the way. A trip of a lifetime for Faye almost ends in another near death experience.

Faye and Nick stay strong and weather all the mishaps that happen along the way. There are some strange occurrences and some nice surprises.

All in all it was a pleasant story. This story holds elements of suspense, romance and the paranormal and even some added bonuses thrown in to add to the pleasant surprise. Ms. Griffith did a really nice job of researching Egypt, Nefertiti and all that went on during that tragic time. While Faye and Nick were in Egypt they even went on a trip to the pyramids which added in bringing the characters to life. She also made it believable that something like this could actually take place in this day and age.

An enjoyable story for anyone who has a passion for Egypt.
