Hello..This is a way of saying thankyou 2 U!...those who are familiar with this work in progress. The Calling was the first of many musical journeys that we have been blessed to participate in. I am very much alive and looking forward to continuing to bring silence a voice as I continue on my life path and share my experiences through word and song. The self expressive artform of music and the business of music often collide when it comes to seeking commercial notoriety for personal exploration but I recognize my success in moments like these, right now....Please Believe that I am sharpening up the razor too- THE FUNK IZ BACK AND TAKING NO PRISONERZ! ...."REBEL SOUL MUSIC"(my new double CD) is coming in 2003 and I want ya'll in on it. The Video for "Soul Assassinator" is out there in Cyber land, see if you can find it....stay tuned...stay blessed...Stay FuNkY! Thank You 4 The Moment!

Marty has been wanting this for a long time. I have known him since 1988. He has always been a talented Brutha. I am glad the world can now realize what I have since 1988 as freshman roommates in the ATL.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Sizzling Joint From A Very Talented Brotha', December 2, 1999

"The Calling" is truly a unique blend of old soul and hip hop. Martin Luther is definitely a very gifted artist. The song "Breathtaker" is a beautiful love ballad that shows rich emotions of love for women. When he speaks of undividing his attention and playing in her hair it just makes me melt. He certainly has a way with words. "Gangsta" is a hard joint with some distinct elements of hip hop embedded in it. There is a strong message for the parents and the kids too. I like this cut because it's so descriptive yet it isn't grotesque like so many other songs about ghetto life. The verse about removing devilish habits and reaching for higher levels is so motivating to me. It's what we need to hear and practice. The two funkiest cuts on the CD are "What I Think" and "The Calling". These jams will just have you rocking in your seat. I have to dance when they come on. Overall I think that this is supreme work for this newcomer. The entire CD is off the hook. His vocals are strong and his sound is very distinct. Most of all though I can appreciate the message that "The Calling" brings--positive sounds and smooth grooves for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars SATISFACTION GUARANTEED, December 16, 1999
This review is from: Calling (Audio CD)
after listening to ML's Calling, i understand the title. he obviously has a calling to do what he does. I have have been obsessed with independednt soul since the 70's. Great labels like curtdom, chess and staxx have come and gone and all that is left are a few dusty 45s attached to a few memories. ML brings that sound from way back up close. I felt that I was listening to an old brothers johnson lp or prince or gil scott. and that is not to say that this man is a facsimile. He is the real deal. Martin Luther..if you are reading this...you are a star. thanks for putting in the time to craft this peace of art. I am a DJ and would love to spin this collection in my rare groove, loungy set. and i am from the bay, so holla at me if you can. We know some of the same peeps.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS REVOLUTION WILL BE TELEVISED, August 12, 1999

If you throw in Soul, Rock, R&B and Hip-Hop into the blender with influence such as Donny Hathaway; Jimi Hendrix; Stevie Wonder; Earth Wind & Fire; Marvin Gaye; Boogie Down Production; Lenny Kravitz and Gil-Scott Heron. Then you will surely appreciate Martin Luther's the Calling. This is a musical journey that must be experienced. With tracks that ranges from uptempo rock to a slow sexy rock/soul groove to a beautiful love ballad, which might take you back into the 70's. Next up, turn your volume knob all the way to the max cause your head will be bobbing to the the hip hop beat from "the Calling".

This entire trip filled with an arrays of musical blend is united with Martin Luther's stylistic vocal with a positive agenda for the next chapter of history.

This is the composition of the new millenium.

Then, they tease ya w/ two (2) other jams, and when I say "jams", I mean it!!!

Yo, I really gotta cop this joint -- To my surprise, the rekkid has not made it's way onto Amazon's market.
What's da deal?

It was supposed to drop this month -- can a brutha' reserve a copy or what?
