"Excuse me?"
"Incompetent." Leo's eyes were dark with fury.
"Mellow out," Lacey said.
"No! You mellow out!"
Suddenly Leo was right up in Lacey's face -- near enough so that she had to fight an urge to step back. She didn't want to step back -- that would tell him she was afraid. Her heart beat slow and hard, as if it were pumping Jell-O instead of blood.
"You wouldn't know a good call if it bit you on the --"
"Leo!" His coach approached with long, determined strides. "What's going on here?"
Leo gave him a hostile glare without backing away from Lacey.
"Leo here is about to calm down," Lacey said.
"Why?" Leo demanded. "Where are you going to do to me if I don't?"
"Give you a yellow card," Lacey said quietly.
Leo laughed. "You don't have the nerve."
