Beautiful, but evaporation a problem, August 22, 2009
This review is from: Calming Waters Slate Pillar with Stainless Steel Reflecting Globe (Kitchen)
This fountain was purchased as a centerpiece for an outdoor garden sitting area. The slate and steel ball are very attractive and the trickling water sounds are soothing. No problem with the quality or condition of what we received and set-up could not have been easier. The problem we have is that we hoped to leave the fountain running all the time as plugging/unplugging it would be a hassle. When we turned it on and left it running we found most of the water in the reservoir gone in 12 hours or so. Thinking there was a leak; we emptied it and fully coated the inside with silicon. It held water for two days with no loss after that, so we put it back together and turned it back on. After 12 hours or so out in the sun, it had lost a significant amount of water, apparently to evaporation. Well, so much for leaving it on. We have purchased a wireless line switch and will now use that to turn the fountain on when we want water flowing. Not what we had in mind, and a bit of a disappointment, but we will make the best of it.
