Stops my intimate rashes and provides relief.,
By Tree Squirrel (Fort Worth, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Calmoseptine Ointment Tube 4 Oz - 3 /Pack (Health and Beauty)
Where has this been all my life? My intimate area is prone to rashes, especially around the monthly time or anytime I may sweat. I've tried so many diaper rash creams, ointments, sprays and powders -- all to no success. Finally, Calmoseptine works! It leaves me with a cooling sensation, which lasts for some time. Within a day, the rash is healed or almost healed. I've yet to have to use this ointment for more than two days. In the past, I've used other creams and such for up to a week, dealing with the uncomfortable pain along the way. Of course, Calmoseptine is messy and sticky, but this is a small price to pay for intimate relief! Highly recommended to females suffering from southern discomforts.

Really Works For My Eczema,
This review is from: Calmoseptine Ointment Tube 4 Oz - 3 /Pack (Health and Beauty)
Bottom Line
After seeing a week and a half eczema breakout disappear in just 2 days I have not found another medication that can IMMEDIATELY calm a severe breakout as well as Calmoseptine. It's not perfect in every other regard, being messy, hard to wash off and medicinal in smell. However, these are really minor cons and it has exceeded all my expectations for an eczema ointment. Rave reviews aside, while it works for many of us, buy one tube and try it to see if it works before committing to more. Pros: Cools and STOPS the itch when applied sufficiently (hint: visibly re-cover any emerging red/itchy/hot spots) Visibly reduces swelling and halts breakouts Heals and protects broken skin Great Price for efficacy Each sufficient application lasts hours Great for listed purposes Feels awesome when water is applied (won't affect wounds as Calmoseptine is waterproof) No steroids with active ingredients of Menthol and Zinc oxide Cons: Probably lasts TOO long (gets sticky after a while) Hard to wash off (you don't need to before applying, just clean the area with mild soap) Very Gooey and quite Messy Neutral: Hard to get out of tube (though you only need a little) Smells strongly, though not offensively, like hydrocortisone Leaves a pinkish light hue (actually a pro if you like how it conceals the redness) Review: As any eczema sufferer would tell you, we are always DESPERATE for the "cure" to allay our eczema breakouts. We already know it's a futile search as there's no such a thing as curing eczema. That said ANYTHING that can prevent, stop, or treat a breakout will be bought and used but I have a lot of experience and never expected Calmoseptine to work. I mean I did think it may help the itch or treat insect bites but not necessarily treat the breakout itself. Amazingly, it is to date the most effective ointment for treating, preventing, and stopping my eczema. Like many other sufferers, I have tried many prescription and over the counter products. Hydrocortisone doesn't work for me and betamethazone (which was the most effective out of all the topical steroids) was something my grandmother gave to me but I ran out of. Steroids were never good for the long term so I continued looking for something that would at least stop the itch. I went to look for the active ingredients of an Asian itch stopper called mopiko-s. Mopiko-S still can't be beat in how fast it treats itch on contact but it lasts a maximum of 10 minutes with one easily used ounce costing $4-$5. Mopiko-S had camphor and menthol as active ingredients, so I looked for the closest product available in the states. Closest I found was Calmoseptine, and I am not disappointed. Like mopiko if you apply water it is very cooling and soothing. Unlike mopiko it continues to cool for around 3 hours after application and protects your skin from outside moisture and bacteria. On the note of Calmoseptine being messy and gooey, another thing any eczema sufferer would tell you is that we would bathe ourselves in diluted bleach (tried and true treatment), sleep on air mattresses, cover ourselves in oatmeal, and eat weird and nasty things JUST to make the eczema less itchy for an hour or two. The mess that this thing creates is NOTHING compared to the relief it provides and the sacrifices we're already USED to making. Since this was the only product I used that VISIBLY reduced the swelling of my breakout in 5-20 minutes and lasted for hours, the cons really are like nothing. For $7, I'd run not walk to get more whenever I had a breakout. Lastly, despite my extreme satisfaction with this product do be sure to buy just one tube of this from a drug store before plopping down $20. Eczema is a HIGHLY individual ailment, and while $20 is nothing if it works, it is a waste if it doesn't. For me, and many others, however, this is a miracle ointment.

Stops Skin Breakdown Dead,
This review is from: Calmoseptine Ointment Tube 4 Oz - 3 /Pack (Health and Beauty)
I've had a feeding tube for over 8 years and had a *severe* problem with breakdown of the stoma right at the beginning that left me very prone to leakage and thus site breakdown. Over the years I've done and used just about everything in attempts to (1) prevent breakdown and irritation and (2) heal it quickly when it happens. (I really mean everything--all the way to constant stomach decompression--suction--and using a modified ostomy bag.
During a recent hospital stay the breakdown appeared and got ugly quickly as my body simply had no resources to deal with it. The wound care nurse was called in and "designed" a dressing that began with stoma powder, Calmoseptine, and then more stoma powder. While the dressing had to be changed frequently for the first few days (because the stoma leakage was almost nonstop) the positive change in the wound was visible within 36 hours--that awful read, meaty look gave way to just an irritated look on a significant portion of the wound. Further within 72 hours the area looked amazingly improved and within 5 days it looked, well, wonderful. Calmoseptine just plain works--and without stinging upon application or any odor. It's think enough to stick but spreads easily. As far as I'm concerned it should be in everyone's wound care bag.

Wow. My 10 month old daughter had a diaper rash that got so bad she started to develop little sores. We kept putting all different kinds of diaper rash creams & baby powder on her & changed her all of the time but it wouldn't get better. Then I found a couple of samples of Calmoseptine that her pediatrician had given us months ago. We thought it couldn't hurt to try. Boy were we happy we did. It cleared it right up - within 2 days! We love this stuff and will always keep it on hand. Highly recommend it!

My daughter had an ongoing rash. We battled it for about three weeks. She had sores and would bleed if you wiped too hard. A lady at the daycare gave me a sample of this and it worked in a day and half to get rid of everything. We used lotramin, the the calmoseptine, then baby powder.

works so well! Amazing!,
This review is from: Calmoseptine Ointment Tube 4 Oz - 3 /Pack (Health and Beauty)
I have Dyshidrotic eczema stemming from a severe nickel and dust allergy. In addition, I also am allergic to many preservatives that are found in cosmetics and lotions. As a graduate student, I'm often stressed, which doesn't help the condition. Every other calamine or hydrocortizone cream I have found in the pharmacy contain ingredients that I'm allergic to. My eczema manifests on my hands and this particular kind is very deep seeded blisters that weep. As the blisters dry, the skin cracks and stings. At times its been too painful to shake hands or open water bottles. I get sick of using steroid creams because long term use has ruined the condition of my skin and I'm constantly looking for something that alleviates the itch when I have an outbreak and also dries out the weeping blisters. They also take a while to absorb and between the antibiotic creme, steroid and skin barrier, my hands end up being greasy for over an hour with each application. I got a sample of this in the mail and its amazing!
The cream works incredibly well at relieving itchiness and dries out the blisters. If you have any skin disorder that weeps, this is a must. It absorbs really well and effects last for hours. After using it for just a day, my outbreak is noticeably better. With my last combination, I was waiting days for the creams to kick in. Its cooling effect helps relieve the stinging associated with the blisters that have peeled and cracked open. I think it even helps blisters that have formed under the skin reduce in size. It helps reduce the redness associated with the eczema. Considering my severe allergies and sensitive skin, I also like that it has very few ingredients. There is nothing this that could trigger a reaction (my skin reacts oatmeal, ruling out many aveeno products). I still use eucerin hand creme for hydration, but I think the product has a fairly good skin protectant. After applying it, it doesn't seem like the cuts and peeled skin are as sensitive to touch. Overall, I would give this a shot. Dyshidrotic eczema can be extremely frustrating, as it is a chronic condition, and I am not exaggerating when I say it has really improved the quality of my life during and outbreak.

Diaper Rash Miracle,
By Bill G "Bill G" (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews

I was told by a pharmacist I know to use this for diaper rash. My little girl had the worst case she's ever had, and she rarely gets it. Doctors and peds told us to use diaper cream. I was using that, plus Aveno soothing bath powder. Every diaper change was agony.
Then a friend told me to use this which, she claims, is used by hospitals on severe skin issues like bed sores. Seriously, after 2 days of generous applications every couple hours, the diaper rash was pretty much gone. I mean completely. And it's soothing as it goes on, kind of an icy-hot feeling. The few cases we've had since the bad incident have been cleared up almost over night with Calmospetine. I always have 2 tubes on hand just in case. Places like Walgreens sell this over the counter, but it's always special order. I got my first tube because someone never picked it up and I pleaded with the pharmacist on duty. But order through Amazon, it arrives fast and is cheaper. Awesome product. |
