Calphalon 32-Inch Straight Wall Pot Rack with 4 Heavy-Duty Single Hooks

I have five of them. They are exceptionally sturdy and they are designed so that the hooks don't come off when removing a pan. I have had hanging racks in the past that become unbalanced when more than one pan is removed. Although the bolt holes match the distance between the wall studs, I have mounted them on strips of oak. The pans hang away from the wall and hold a lot of very heavy duty pans with no signs of strain.

This redesigned Calphalon 32-Inch Straight Wall Rack is a great accessory that adds functionality and style to a kitchen. The length is perfect for mounting by screws onto two wall studs, which are usually found 16 inches apart. I like to use this straight wall rack for hanging Calphalon stainless steel utensils, small Calphalon Commercial Hard Anodized Omelet pans, Sauté pans, Chef Pans, Saucepans, or the Butterwarmer. The stainless cool-v handle on the Commercial line matches the handles on the stainless utensils. The rack comes with 4 single hooks. I don't use any double hooks on this rack because I find it too small for that. I use 6 single hooks about 4 inches apart if I am hanging utensils.

I ordered this item because it perfectly fit the 32-inch wall space above my stove. When I received the rack, it actually measured 32.5 inches -- 31 inches of bar and 1.5 inches for the mounting. It works great, but I had to rearrange the other walls of my kitchen to hang the rack in another, less convenient spot.

I love my home very much, but it has a very small kitchen with little cabinet space available for my new Calphalon products. My husband bought this for me for Christmas, and installed it that morning. It is wonderful to have all my cookware right in arm's reach, yet out of the way. Also, it makes our kitchen look wonderful. What a great way to show off your Calphalon collection! Useful and attractive, it's well worth buying!

Well, it does what it needs to do and didn't cost a fortune so I guess it was a success. But, it sure wasn't obvious when I ordered it that the mounting hardware was not included! And of course none of the hundred screws that I have in my toolbox match the dark grey finish...! How hard or expensive can it be to put four little screws in the box?!

Bought this thinking it would 'make a statement' on the wall I was hanging it on. It is a smaller unit than I anticipated, so had to work it together with a cookbook shelf just above. Even though it's 'plain jane' it does a great job of keeping the cookware out of the cabinets and within easy reach.

Nothing new to add with this review that others haven't already stated. The rack shipped quickly and arrived safely.

32" is a decent size for holding four pieces. Currently hanging from mine are a Le Creuset 3-Ply Stainless-Steel 3-Quart covered Saucepan, Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 10 2/3 Inch Crepe Pan, Cobalt, Le Creuset 3-Ply Stainless-Steel 3-Quart Saute Pan, and Le Creuset 3-Ply Stainless-Steel 11-Inch Nonstick Fry Pan. With these items hanging, the rack still feels quite secure when you give it a tug with your hands. I would not want to add any more items, but that is strictly due to the limited width.


Things I like:
** The rack works well and mounts solidly, even into drywall.
** The hooks go on the rack easily via the access notches at either end, and do not come off unless slid back to an access notch.

Things I could go either way on:
** The rack only comes with four hooks. The rack isn't really wide enough to handle more than 4 pots/pans, but a fifth hook would mean a pot holder, stirrer, or other small basic kitchen tool could be hung.

Things I don't like:
** As others mentioned, mine also has the anodizing chipped away around the mount holes. True Type-3 hard anodizing shouldn't do this, so I'm not really certain what is going on with that. I don't think that bodes well for the durability of the finish along the edges (particularly the top edge) where the hooks can slide. Of course, the top edge isn't visible to people under 11ft tall, and the hooks won't be moving around very much.
** The rack DOES NOT come with mounting hardware despite being listed as "complete." You will have to go to the hardware store and buy it yourself. Because the mounting holes are large, you will want a much larger fastener than the guy in the hardware store may recommend without seeing them. IIRC, I went with #17 screws and appropriate drywall anchors.
** Because the rack DOES NOT come with mounting hardware, you will end up with shiny chrome-like fastener heads showing against the black/charcoal finish of the rack.

These were just what we needed to de-clutter our kitchen cabinets. The only reason they don't get five stars is because of the stripping issue mentioned by other reviewers, and evident in the photos I've posted on Amazon. See the photos if you want an idea of what the racks can hold.

I have more pots than most people, since I like to choose between stainless and anodized depending on the task at hand. So I ended up buying two of these simple wall racks, installing them one over the other on an otherwise wasted wall space.

I like that these simple units match the finish of my Calphalon cookware, and that the hooks are generous enough that I can stack two and sometimes three pans of increasing size on one hook, depending on the thickness of the handles. My saucepans no longer get scuffed, I can find everything easily, and with these heavy duty racks attached to studs, they hold lots of weight without me worrying.

I have a small kitchen, will always have a small kitchen, and finding a place to store my cookware was a problem. I purchased the Calphalon wall rack and hubby installed it. Installation was easy and the rack looks so nice againist my kitchen wall. My pots are now safely organized and my kitchen has more storage space. I wish I had enough room for a second rack...
