20+ years of service and exceptional customer service,

This review is from: Calphalon Classic Nonstick 9-by-13-Inch Covered Cake Pan (Kitchen)
I purchased 2 of these cake pans about 20(!) years ago from a local store. The fact that I still have them after 20 years tells you how well these pans are made.
I recently noticed that these pan now include a plastic cover which they did not have when originally purchased. I contacted Calphalon's customer service to inquire if I can purchase these covers separately. You can imagine my surprise and delight when Calphalon asked me for my address and sent me two covers completely free. It is hard to grasp in this time and age such exceptional customer service. High quality and exceptional customer service, what a winning combination.

The pan is heavy and bakes evenly. The lid is very tight and secure. A friend of mine had one and I fell in love with it. I have all kinds of Calphalon. It's the best cookware & bakeware I have found.

ho-hum,
This review is from: Calphalon Classic Nonstick 9-by-13-Inch Covered Cake Pan (Kitchen)
I received this a while back and like that it is deep enough for lasagna and really like the fact that it comes with a cover. However, the insides of the corners have a crease that is very difficult to clean properly. I have to use a toothpick which is kinda annoying. Other than that, it is a solid, sturdy pan.

A Piece of Cake,

Mrs. Spudman bought this Calphalon covered cake pan and tells me she is happy with it. Cakes bake up evenly in it and the nonstick finish makes it easy to clean afterwards. Just be sure not to use metal utensils to cut the cake or you'll diminish the nonstick properties.
The cake pan is made of professional quality heavy-gauge steel and is dishwasher safe, though Mrs. Spudman prefers to clean hers by hand. The plastic cover is also dishwasher safe. Don't use the plastic cover in the oven unless you like plastic icing on your cakes. The cover fits on snugly and takes a little effort to pry off, but it does keep the contained cake fresh. Calphalon backs this item with a ten year waranty and will repair or replace a product found to be defective in materials or workmanship. I think this pan is a bit on the pricey side, but that's just me. Calphalon headquarters is in Toledo, Ohio. This pan was made in China.

This Pan Is Not Dishwasher Safe,

This review is from: Calphalon Classic Nonstick 9-by-13-Inch Covered Cake Pan (Kitchen)
I bought this pan because the product feature list stated:
"Use nylon, wooden, or coated utensils; dishwasher safe; oven safe to 450 degrees F" This seems to imply that the pan is dishwasher safe. Unfortunately, the label on the pan clearly states: "Cover is top-rack dishwasher safe" "Use a sponge, or dishcloth and sudsy water to clean the pan" According to the package, the pan is not dishwasher safe. It's also worth noting that this pan is not safe for use with a broiler. Having used the pan a few times, I've found it to work well (nothing has stuck to it). I've washed it by hand, using toothpicks to remove the crumbs trapped in the corners. The lid holds on the the pan tightly, but is not air-tight. It is a bit pink, as shown in the picture. |
