Stamped from high-carbon stainless steel, the four knives in this set are designed to cut steaks, chops, and roasts at the table into bite-size pieces. Because their 4-inch blades are serrated, they tend to rip meat fibers rather than slice neatly through them. On the other hand, the serrations' points make it easy to for the blades to grip a piece of meat that has a tasty, seared crust. Handles are made of stainless steel with a contemporary satin-finish, and the knives are nicely balanced so they feel comfortable in the hand. After using several sets of "included" steak knives with various cutlery blocks, I finally decided to buy a set of steak knives. These are very elegant, do a great job of cutting, and feel quite nice in the hand. So far, they have retained a good edge as well.

As with any knives, hand-washing is better for the blade, but these have weathered the dishwasher with no trouble.

Overall, for the price and the look, I am highly satisfied with the set.

I received these knives free from a coupon off of another calphalon pan and they are the best steak knives I've ever owned. I'm going to buy another set and at $19.99 they are a wonderful bargain. I've put them in the dishwasher for six months now and they are still like new. These are one solid piece, cut like a dream, and look elegant. There are six people at our house but only four knives and everyone fights for these knives.

I've been using them for six months and I haven't had any problems with the handles rusting (like another review on here says). They are great so far.
