This handsome and durable casserole moves with ease from stovetop to oven to table. At 12-1/2 inches in diameter and 5 inches deep without the lid, it's the perfect size for making comfort food for a crowd: chili, stew, ragout, pot roast, cassoulet, or any other dish that requires slow cooking in a heavy pot. The heavy, tight-fitting domed lid seals in heat and moisture; flip it over and it becomes a deep-dish pan complete with handles. Heavy-gauge aluminum construction means foods cook evenly. Unlike cookware coated with a synthetic nonstick finish, the hard-anodized surface won't chip, crack, or peel if you use a metal spatula, and it doesn't react with acidic foods such as citrus or tomato. Double-loop handles make a full casserole easy to lift, and they're made of cast stainless steel that stays comfortably cool to the touch on the stove but won't be damaged in the oven. All of Calphalon's commercial hard-anodized cookware comes with a lifetime warranty, and if treated with care, it'll last as long as you do.
