5.0 out of 5 stars The one essential pan for every kitchen!
This is the best nonstick pan in the world, and here's why:
1) The nonstick surface is superior to anything else you will ever use, and it's guaranteed forever. The Commercial line has the far better LRS3 nonstick material than the less expensive LRS material in the Calphalon Professional Nonstick II line. I have had both for several years and I can not recommend the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Poorly constructed
I bought this special anniversary edition from Amazon for $30.00 and was extremely happy that I found such a pan for this low price. I have 20 pieces of calphalon and 6 of those are commercial nonstick. This piece was horrible. I never use it for high temp cooking and absolutely never use metal utensils, but within 6 mos it was chipping and pitted. I was not going to...

This review is from: Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 12-Inch Omelet Pan (Kitchen)
This is the best nonstick pan in the world, and here's why:
1) The nonstick surface is superior to anything else you will ever use, and it's guaranteed forever. The Commercial line has the far better LRS3 nonstick material than the less expensive LRS material in the Calphalon Professional Nonstick II line. I have had both for several years and I can not recommend the Professional line because the surface becomes sticky over time, while the Commercial Nonstick surface is as slippery as the day I bought it.
2) The handle stays cool.
3) The pan is stunningly gorgeous, with its matte black anodized aluminum underside and its polished chrome handle.
4) You can even finish items in the oven at 350 degrees or so without damaging the nonstick surface...
5) The weight and balance of the pan are excellent; extremely sturdy yet not unwieldy.

One caveat: You can not put Calphalon products in the dishwasher. It will cause discolorations and pits, and void the warranty to boot! But that is not a big deal because the superior nonstick surface is a breeze to clean.

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars best deal on the market, November 11, 2002
By

This review is from: Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 12-Inch Omelet Pan (Kitchen)
the calphalon pan is a tremendous deal. extremely well made
(and still made in toledo, ohio. some calphalon products are
being made in china) and with a cooking friendly geometry.
the nonstick is durable although it is recommended for non-metal utensils only. heating is even and easily controlled. breaded
meats come out with an even, crispy crust. sauteed veggies came
out well, and mushrooms were especially good, achieving a
browning that is not usually characteristic of nonsticks.

the nonstick surface cleans easily, but the hard anodised outer
surface is not so easily cleaned of burnt on oil. the only
negative i find is with the fancy sculpted handle. you can only
twist and turn the pan by holding the very end of the handle
so "two handing" it is of no advantage. calphalon's folded
steel handle on some of their other lines of products handle
more easily. at this sale price, nothing else comes close.

4.0 out of 5 stars great performance for a great price!, November 8, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 12-Inch Omelet Pan (Kitchen)
I just bought this pan, but have so far been very impressed. It's heavy, well constructed, and heats very evenly. So far nothing has even come close to sticking to the non-stick coating, which also seems to be of a good quality thickness (unlike the cheaply made non-stick pans that you can ordinarily only get for this price). This doesn't impress as the type of pan that's going to be thrown out in a year.

I've been pleasantly surprized, since I've never been able to justify buying expensive non-stick cookware (since it doesn't seem to last), and have a habit of buying really cheap non-stick stuff with the intention of throwing it out every couple of years. I may have to change my non-stick philosophy if this pan lasts as well as I think it might.

Its a perfect size for a lot of different things. Its great for eggs, hashbrowns & bacon - you can easily fry 4 eggs at a time without them touching, and bacon strips fit completely flat on the bottom of the pan...no running up the sides like in smaller pans. Believe it or not its also great for browning meat - it really heats up! (really, its light years away from your regular teflon pan)

Although its heavy, I've even found that I can do a two-handed saute flip of food. The sides seem to be shaped really well to facilitate this (and trust me, although I cook a LOT, I'm no expert flipper). The flared rim also makes pouring liquid out of it easy too (so far, no annoying sloshes down the sides!).

Oh, for those who are wondering because of the price, its manufactured in Toledo, Ohio, not China (it says so on the bottom of the pan).

The only downside is that the anodized aluminum outside seems pretty prone to scratching/rubbing. It won't affect performance, but does offend the OCD part of me that wants all of my cookware to stay pristine despite hard use. :)

In all, for the price of a no-name brand pan, this is a great value purchase that I don't think you'll regret.

This is not just an omelet pan. It is great for just about anything - eggs, bacon, burgers, pancakes, large crepes, etc. It is a properly weighted pan with such a terrific non-stick coating that butter or oil is not needed and it cleans up easily. Heating is even, and the handle stays cool. We love it and have used it 4 or 5 times a week for many months, and it still seems brand new. We've owned many brands of nonstick frying pans, and after using this Calphalon, we have no interest in using any of the others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Calphalon Commercial Nonstick Omelette Pan, February 14, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 12-Inch Omelet Pan (Kitchen)
I have been married 26 years this month and this is the best pan I have ever owned. It is a heavy, durable pan, cooks evenly, and cleanup is a dream! I have cooked everything in this pan. It should be called an everyday pan. I liked it so much that I bought the actual Calphalon Everyday pan and the Commercial Roaster. I am trying to eventually replace all of my old cookware with Calphalon. These pans are definitely worth the money. Of course, I do try to buy the piece that is on sale at the time so that I can buy another piece sooner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superior product; attractive warranty, February 12, 2004
This review is from: Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 12-Inch Omelet Pan (Kitchen)
I like non-stick pans for ease in cleaning and the option of lower-fat cooking, but I'd long ago resigned myself to the idea that no non-stick surface could last very long and that I'd have to buy a replacement every year or so. Given that, I'd always bought fairly cheap pans.

I was lured into checking out Calphalon during a serious sale, and that was when I discovered the lifetime warranty. If you're good to this pan (i.e. no use of metal utensils and no rides in the dishwasher,) they'll guarantee it for life. Wow. (Be sure to complete & send in the form that comes with the pan.)

I use this pan for general purpose stove-top cooking and I love it. I like the weight - heavy enough to hold heat well, but not so heavy that it can't be easily moved around. (It's a little lighter than my old cast iron skillet.) It has great heat distribution (no hot or cool spots,) and takes about 2 minutes to heat thoroughly. The surface is rated for oven use up to 450 degrees, though it can't be used under the broiler. The metal handle is sturdy and stays cool throughout the cooking process.

The rim of the pan has a curved lip, with the non-stick surface continuing right to the edge. The result of this is that I'm leery of using any of my metal lids or spatter guards for fear of scratching the surface. (A lid was not included with the pan.) This is the only drawback I have encountered, but I consider it minor. I suspect that with a little looking I'll be able to find an acceptable lid.

Heats evenly and the handle stays cool. Great for french toast. I've had this pan for years and the non-stick coating has lasted with no problems. This company makes different styles of cookware. I prefer this style because of the non-stick finish and the shiny and smooth stainless handle.

Generous in size, this pan can easily become a kitchen favorite! From eggs to hash browns, you won't be disappointed. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because a lid for pan is not included. Luckily, I purchased the Calphalon 12 inch everyday pan and that lid fits this pan as well.
