For years I've wanted a good fry pan that could cook up chicken, hash browns, and Hamburger Helper. Most fry pans are shallow, and when filled with large pieces or high volumes will splatter and spill. This pan, while officially considered a saute pan, is perfect for doing those kind of dishes.Given the weight of the pan, it has a carry handle in addition to the long pan handle. The pan handle does not heat up at all, but the carry handle will get a bit hot from heat coming from underneath the burner. It comes with a dome shaped, highly polished steel lid making it an even better value. If you are elderly, and lack arm strength stay away from the larger (and even some of the smaller) Celphalon cookware. Celphalon is very thick and heavy to manipulate. You will think you're cooking with an old fashioned iron spider skillet based on the weight. This is the fourth Celphalon pot I've purchaced off Amazon.com and they are all excellent pieces. The list price is high or down right ridiculous on many of their pieces, but often they end up with major discounts on select pieces. I've bought all my pieces between [$$$]... Three out of the four pieces I've bought including this one have been of the Commercial Nonstick. It is a high quality coating that seems hard to scratch even if you grab an old metal spatula by mistake. The pieces take a little more time to heat up due to the coating but seem to brown and cook just fine. I got one Hard Anodized pan without the non-stick coating and Commercial or not it seemed a little lower in quality. The handle and the lid were both inferior to all the Commercial Non-stick pieces I've bought. These become gold box specials often so keep and eye out for the good closeouts. You can get a really exceptional cookware set by buying one inexpensive piece at a time. Once you fill your kitchen with these things, you'll take all your old cookware and put it with the camping gear.

My favorite everyday pan!,

This is the very capable and a bit more manageable little sister to the 5 quart Commerical Nonstick Saute Pan. For smaller jobs and just about anything else from frying bacon to poaching eggs, this is the pan I reach for the most. Don't put this in the dishwasher (you'll void the warranty), but cleanup is an absolute breeze with the nonstick surface and besides, you're not going to want it out of action for long!

I've been cooking with hand-me-down pots and pans for years. I finally got fed up and decided to splurge and buy myself 1 good pan. I knew I wanted a Calphalon and when I saw this in as a Gold Box offer, I was thrilled! I had planned on spending $150-200 and got this for $24! I am SO happy with it! It's such a great size, not too heavy, the handle stays cool and it is so easy to clean. I'll be tossing all my old pans now!

I have an 8-pc Professional Non-Stick II set, which I love, but over the years, I've been collecting different pots and pans from the Calphalon line...one Contemporary Non-stick frying pan with glass lid, two Calphalon One pans and this...the Commercial Non-stick 3-quart saute pan. This is truly my favorite. It has the best 'feel' of all my pans and the size is just right for so many uses. The streamlined, cool touch V-handle also has the best feel. Cleaning, as with all of the Calphalon Non-stick pans, is a snap. You will use this pot over and over again...it's worth every penny.

Better than most Calphalon,

You will see the beginning of this review on several pans I am rating. After much research I decided on Calphalon anodized pans. I did so because A. I read that they were easier to care for and clean than stainless and B. I put together a set from Amazon at a wonderful price. I regret my decision because these pans are anything BUT easy to care for. They show every spec of oil and it does not come off easily with the special cleaner needed to protect the anodized finish. They also scratch easily when they touch each other. I hang them but cannot imagine how bad they would look if I stacked them instead. I am in the process of gradually replacing these pans with stainless which will not be ruined if one of your children forgets and puts it in the dishwasher.I have noticed that the nonstick pans were made in China and the others were made in Ohio. I have seen reviews saying the Ohio pans are better. I did not find this to be true. The nonstick pans have shiny handles and lids that are much more attractive than the dull metal from the US made ones. Neither appears to be more or less sturdy. That said this is my favorite pan of the Calphalon I bought. It heats quickly and stays hot at lower settings. The nonstick surface seems sturdy but I have only had it since Christmas so long term wear remains to be seen. It is a good size for most one dish meals. I would recommend it with the caveat that you will need to baby it to keep it looking good.

I puracahsed this pan after getting my first Calphalon One pan to start my set. The new and imporved pan sits in the cabinet but this one receives regular use. Browns and sears nicely and after wiping clean my husband was putting this pan away before I actually washed it, I had to expalin it still needed soap! The price is great and you can get a lot more commericial non stick for the price of the new line!

*****
This is the best pan I own, at an unbelievable price, too. It screams out "expensive"---it is beautiful, heavy, and seemingly sturdy despite previous reviews of the teflon coming off. My teflon coating seems very secure, so there may be some quality control issues; however, I know my pan is great! I am tempted to buy more to use as gifts, or to just stock up on for when this one wears out. I am very careful with it, and do not use anything abrasive on it, plus I always wash it right after I use it, which I'm sure is helpful. It is large enough to prepare a meal for two people inside it, which is mainly what my husband and I use it for---as a general, all purpose pan. I would highly recommend it. *****

I have owned a set of Professional Calphalon for several years. The set is still in great shape. But when I saw the great deal Amazon is offering on the Commercial Calphalon I thought I would try them. They are wonderful, A+. I like the finish better than the Professional. I have since purchased several different Commercial pans. The 3 Qt Saute pan is great and large enough for a family size meal. I will continue to check for these great deals.P.S. Made in the USA.

My favorite pan!,

I have used this pan 3 or 4 times a week for the last 5 years, and it is still in excellent condition, with absolutely no peeling or flaking of the nonstick coating. I had been warned that tomato-based sauces would cause pitting in aluminum pans, but I've had no problems, even though I'm occasionally lazy enough to leave it unwashed overnight after cooking spaghetti sauce. {blush} No, it is not dishwasher safe. If that's what you need, don't buy a nonstick pan.

I always buy those cheap non stick sets & believe me, it was a splurge to buy this, but it was an awesome brand name with a cheap price, I had to get it. I'm so happy I did, I only wish it was bigger :) It's super sturdy & comes with a heavy duty lid. At this price, you should buy one or ten for all the favorite women in your life!
