As part of Calphalon's Commercial Nonstick line of cookware, this casserole is made of heavy-gauge aluminum that's uniformly thick across the bottom and sides, allowing for quick and even heat distribution. The exterior of this pan is nonporous and won’t chip, crack, or peel over time. The pan’s interior has an advanced nonstick coating that is scratch-resistant (with the use of plastic or wooden utensils) and cleans easily. The patented cast stainless-steel handles are comfortable to grip and minimize heat transfer so they stay cool on the stovetop. Handles are held in place by three sturdy stainless-steel rivets. This casserole, with its even heat distribution and perfectly flat bottom, works great on my smoothtop range. I use it as a saucepan as well. It's so handy -- goes from stovetop to oven to table to refrigerator. Cleanup, when it eventually happens, is a breeze, and I've been spared the use (and cleanup) of other pans, bowls, etc. I like it so well that I've ordered another for those times when this one is in the refrigerator.

I love this pan. I originally bought it for making risotto, because of its non-stick surface. But now, I use it for everything. Thick bottom redistributes the heat very evenly and efficiently. The size is just right for stir-fry as well if you are making meal for around 3-4 people. The quality of the non-stick surface is unbelievable. Whatever that I made, all I needed to do is to put it under running tap water to clean it. The cover is very substantial, and seals the pan very well. Because the cover is stainless steel, I put it in dishwasher and it comes out shiny like brand new. (Not the pan, though. You are not supposed to put a non-stick pan in a dishwasher.) For this quality, the price that you pay here is a steal! Highly recommended. This pan will change your life in your kitchen!

I purchased this casserole a few months ago to replace my 20+ year old West Bend slow cooker pot, but I've found that I use it not only when slow cooking, but pretty much all the time. Clean-up is a breeze, and it cooks everything fast and tender. If you can only afford one new piece of cookware, this is it!
