Coupled with the big universal steamer insert that is included, this 2-1/2-quart saucepot provides lots of versatility for a cook--from simmering a pasta sauce to steaming vegetables to braising a pot roast in the oven under its domed, stainless-steel lid. The pot is made of harder-than-steel anodized aluminum with a nonstick interior that's oven-safe to 450 degrees F, and its riveted, cast-stainless-steel handle resists heat on the stovetop. The pot measures 7-1/2 inches in diameter and 4-1/2 inches deep. The stainless-steel steamer measures 8 inches in diameter and 4-1/2 inches deep. Calphalon's Commercial Nonstick cookware is coated with an especially durable, multilayered nonstick. (For long life, only plastic, nylon, and wood utensils are recommended.) The pot's matte-finish exterior won't chip, crack, or peel. Calphalon commercial nonstick are by far the best pots and pans I have ever used. They are all made with the finest construction and have an amazing non-stick surface. (I have been bad and even used metal utensils against it and it is still in tip-top shape.) The saucepan is no exception to Calphalon's quality. The added steamer is perfect for cooking light meals along with the "no-oil needed" non-stick saucepan.

I bought this saucepot because I prefer 2 loop handles and getting it and the steamer at about half the the price of the hard anodized nonstick sauce pan alone, plus a gold box discount, made this a truely exceptional bargain.After trying one of those plastic steamer/rice cooker and a metal rice/cooker steamer I knew there had to be a better way and this is it.

I have several pieces of the commercial nonstick, and this is a terrific addition to the collection. I frequently need smaller pots, and this one is a perfect complement to the smaller long-handled sauce pans in the collection. The steamer (which sits snugly atop the saucepan) is lovely and very functional. The set comes with a polished steel lid for the pot and a beautiful glass lid for the steamer.
