5.0 out of 5 stars ...unlike any other...
I first saw this item here at amazon, then I saw this at the store and thought about giving it a try. I'm glad I did...I like this 'stir-fry scoop,' very unique...unlike anything I've seen. The scoop itself is sturdy, not flimsy nylon--I've used this to stir-fry and fry (in oil) and it still looks good (like new!). The best way I can describe the shape of the scoop is...

2.0 out of 5 stars Chirps after two months of Use
I bought this from Amazon to use on my calphalon wok. After daily use for about 1 month, we realise that the tip chirps. The scoop design is useful but the material used does not withstand the heat.

The best way I can describe the shape of the scoop is diamond, but with rounded corners (especially the L/R sides). It's odd-shaped, but it really makes it so easy and comfortable to use. The flat side (L of top rounded tip), is angled so perfectly for stir-frying, it 'hits' the bottom of a flat pan perfectly without the weird arm position. The rounded tip (with flat edge on either side) is perfect for rounder pans like a stir-fry wok or when you're trying to 'scrape' the sides of the pan. Right next to the 4 slots (on the 'flat-looking' surface), is actually a bit of a dip on the spoon, which makes it easy to scoop and flip the food around the pan/wok. I'm very happy with this scoop, I wish I bought it sooner!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very versatile utensil, March 16, 2005

If you stir fry, saute or just want a useful tool - buy this thing. <g> It's best described as a combination slotted spoon and spatula. It won't fit in a small pot, but then - you don't stir fry in a small pot. It will scrape the bottom of a fry pan or wok; it will help your toss food in a wok as it cooks and and it will help you serve food without dragging oil/or cooking liquid out. It's now one of my favorite tools.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite kitchen tool!, August 27, 2005

I have had one of these for more than 4 years and it is in the same condition as when I bought it. It doesn't chip, melt, crack, or change shape no matter what. I use it when I fry, stir fry, saute, boil, and grill. It takes it all. Everyone needs one of these.

This is a scoop designed to be used with western-style flat-bottomed woks. i.e. Woks adapted for western-stovetop use.

The shape of the scoop gets all the bits of food moving, and nothing gets left behind, so it all cooks uniformly like it ought to. This shape works where the traditional metal or bamboo spatuala/scoops can't.

The only thing is that the edge isn't sharp/thin enough to effectively break up scrambled eggs into the little strips for making fried rice and other dishes.

I purchased this in all honesty to get an order up to the $25 free shipping limit, but am quite pleased. It *does* function very well for stir frys, although the slots for drainage aren't that effective. Interesting and functional shape, comfortable to use.

i bought the spoon thinking that i would use it with my other 2 products of calphalon i purchased. the spoon handle is very long and looks very out of place when used with my 2 1/2 qt. saucepan & 3 qt. saucepot. it is so big that when i try to use it the spoon almost fell out of the pan. it has a very odd shape and style and i havent used it more than once. i would not recommend it to anyone.
