Contemporary Stainless is for home chefs who place as much importance on cookware style as they do on performance. The sleek, modern vessels in this line have curvaceous and smooth flared tulip shapes that create a stunning presence while heating on a stovetop or hanging from a pot rack. The brushed steel exteriors are a beautiful complement to professional stainless-steel appliances and are less likely to show baked-on grease or wear than a polished finish can. Gracefully curved stainless-steel handles are comfortable to clutch and stay cool on the stovetop for hours at a time. Glass covers are convenient for watching food cook and have curved handles plus wide-banded stainless-steel rims for durability.

Heating in this 8-quart stockpot is sure to satisfy the performance requirements of discerning cooks. The pot boasts triple-layer construction with stainless-steel exteriors bonded over a full aluminum core that extends up the sides as well as through the bottom. Aluminum is an excellent heat conductor, providing consistent heat for simmering soup, chili, or pasta. The stainless-steel pot is safe in the oven and can withstand broiler temperatures as well as the use of metal utensils. However, the lid is oven-safe only to 450 degrees F. All Contemporary Stainless is dishwasher-safe for quick cleanup and is covered by a lifetime warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Professional, Versatile, Comfortable

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless features tri-ply construction--the choice of many professional chefs. A layer of heavy-gauge aluminum, sandwiched between the stainless-steel interior and exterior of each pan, provides superb conductivity and even heating throughout the vessel.

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless makes it easy to keep an eye on what you're cooking. Sparkling glass covers let you monitor a whole stovetop full of pans at a glance. The cookware also features long, sculpted handles that are as comfortable as they are beautiful. Not only do they feel great in your hand, they're designed to stay cool on the stovetop.

Easy Cleanup

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless is 100 percent dishwasher-safe for effortless cleanup. (That's a feature you'll appreciate at the end of a long evening of entertaining.) You can also hand wash your pans using a dishcloth and hot sudsy water. For occasional polishing, we recommend Bar Keeper's Friend.

I have five other contemporary stainless pieces (skillets and pots), purchased when the line was first introduced, that I am satisfied with. When I wanted a new stockpot I decided to purchase the Calphalon Contemporary 8 quart stockpot and also decided to buy the separate insert for cooking pasta, corn on the cob, etc. (I didn't want the disc bottom multi-pot after reading the reviews about boiling over problems, splattering and lid problems, etc.). This pot is okay, but it is way too slow bringing water to a boil--it takes at least 20 minutes for water to come to a boil on my gas stove! This is a full seven minutes more than the old pot that I handed down to my son! Also, don't waste your money on purchasing the poorly designed pasta cooker insert. The fit is such that the water doesn't circulate or boil properly when using the insert. It takes forever to cook pasta with the insert, and the pot is difficult to control. This pot generally cooks better without the insert. This pot may be attractive, but I am disappointed enough with it that I would not purchase it again.

Returned a Denmark 8 qt stockpot because one oven pot roast with red wine and it was permanently discolored. Nickel is a toxic metal, so not liking the bluish hue after first use.

3Bs had a good selection, so I looked around. This was clearly the best quality cookwear in the store. The heaviest, most finished, and the brushed finish will be serviceable for decades to come. It helps that this is a deep collection, so you can add to the set over time. Definitely pretty enough to place in the middle of the table and serve from.

This is the real deal. Now I just have to talk myself into paying this much for another stock pot - even if it is ten bucks cheaper here, and with no 8% sales tax. The 13-piece set would make a great wedding present.

First of all, it works as well as a non-stick pan, but in order to completely remove the food and water marks, you would have to spend some time scrubbing with Bar Keeper's Friend. (It's not worth the trouble, because it's basically already clean.) Second, eight quarts is a LOT bigger than I thought-- especially for two people! It's still a very useable pan, though, and you can always freeze or give away the extras. I'm not sorry I bought this.

I bought a pasta insert and thought it would fit into the Calphalon stockpot that I have had for years and used frequently. It did not fit and I was ever so glad to find the Calphalon Contemporary Stockpot into which the inserts fits. Works great. I did not realize how much easier pasta cooking can be with a right insert.

I've been using this pot for about 6 months now. The metal is a nice, solid weight and cooks evenly. In the picture it's a bit difficult to see, but the pot has a slight flare near the top and rolls in smoothly at the bottom corner. The shape is comfortable and easy to handle. Overall, a very useful item.

Wonderful pot!
Very happy with the quality and size of this pot, not to large or too small. I had searched through a lot of information on pots before I chose this one. I had wanted a pot to cook spaghettti in but did not need the inserts etc,, also wanted a pot versatile enough for many uses including soups and small pot roasts. I was looking for a good quality stainless steel pot wihout paying a fortune for it and this is it!

A few years ago, my wife put this heavy duty Calphalon stock pot under the Christmas tree -- and I was hooked to this line of cookware from that day forward. As we can afford to do so, we try to enhance our kitchen's inventory with a new item or two every year.

This pot has met all expectations; we've cooked all manner of dishes (gumbos, soups, stews, etc...) in this pot and can attest to its even heating and quick clean-up nature. I agree with another reviewer that it does take a bit longer to heat water to a boil (like for cooking pasta noodles and such) than other lesser pots that we have, but we do not use it for that task very much so no issue here. This is an excellent pot and I like the glass top as it allows one to judge heat level (simmer, boil, etc...) without having to lift the lid and disturb the process.

One thing is for sure, these pots do take up a bit of cabinet space... to mitigate our storage issue, we installed a beautiful wooden ceiling pot rack (J.K. Adams 39-Inch-by-13-Inch Hardwood Ceiling Pot Rack, 8-Pot Hooks and 4-Utensil Hooks Included, Natural) above our kitchen island to hang the larger pots and pans from.

If you are looking for a pot of this nature, we highly recommend this one and also suggest that you look over the entire line as your needs expend. Truly well constructed and also very pleasing to the hand and eye.
