First of all, in case you're concerned, let me say that the quality of Calphalon's stainless cookware has greatly improved as they have recently made the switch from not-so-good impact-bonded stainless bottom (Simply Stainless) to a tri-ply construction that's on par with All-Clad.
As a result, this pan offers very good heat retention and distribution (i.e. no hot spots), and clean-up is a breeze. Since I got this pan, I have been using it for every thing from small batches of soup, cheese sauce for mac'n'cheese, spinach filling for spanakopita... And with that rounded bottom, I cannot wait to make risotto!
Also, the glass lid fits very nicely and makes it easy to watch what's going on inside your pan.
This is not just a great value for the price -it's a great pan, which just happens to have an unbeatable price.

This item is a great starter to the Calphalon Contemporary Stainless Steel cookware line. It's a solid product that looks great and functions as it's pricier siblings. Cooking with this has been a pleasure and don't be surprised if you end up buying the rest of the cookware in the series. I should not that the pot gets hot very fast and the handle can be hot but is rather cool towards the end.

If you have a hanging pot-rack, then this would make you very happy.

One last thing, if you were wodering why the item is so cheap, well, it's meant to hook you into buying more... It has the same build quality as the rest of the cookware in the line.

I've had this pot for about a month now, and use it often. The handle on the pot stays cool, it's a great size, the shape is perfect for stirring, the see-through lid is wonderful, and the price is excellent. My only complaint is that it's been hell to clean. I don't have a dishwasher, so I scrub (and scrub and scrub) by hand, but there always seems to be a thin film of whatever food I was cooking stuck to the bottom (even with overnight soaking), and the inside becomes weirdly discolored even after I clean it, from doing non-messy things like boiling pasta. Bar Keeper's Friend helps a bit, but this pot literally takes me 15 minutes to even get it passably clean (forget new-looking/shiny).

This pan caught my eye because it's so attractive and it had a great price. The glass lid is a plus, too. It's wondeful, I used it to cook rice the first time I used it and the water boiled so quickly, a fraction of the time it takes with the other pans we have. Cleaning the pan was very simple, didn't have the use an SOS. The only complaint I have is that the bottom was already discolored after one use with a blue-green pattern.

I've used it twice to boil soup and hot dogs. It heats evenly and cleanup was a breeze. The contemporary line seems to be better quality than the triply. My triply pan discolored on the bottom at the same temp but not this pan.

This pan is a good bargin and works very well. It looks great and can be put into the dishwasher...it performs as well as anything I've ever owned.

We love this stainless steel chef's pan. It is thick and it retains heat very well. I use it for stir fry as well as cooking rice. Since it does not have any coating we do not worry when we scratch it. I would highly recommend it.

This sause pan does a good job cooking as I expected it to. I love how easy it is to clean. I use it almost every day and I have never had to scrub it with SOS pads or clenser. It is almost as easy as a non-stick pan to clean.

It's a well built piece of cookware, and performs better than regular stainless steel. Not sure I like the shape of the bowl though - a little too rounded for me. Others liked it more for that very same reason though, so...

This stainless steel surface stains rather easily compared to some other stainless steel cookware I own, but I'm not gonna sweat it, because I wash and dry as soon as I'm done cooking, and know it's clean and well kept. And the stains aren't really a big deal, but it still detracts for the sake of writing a review and all.

I have a set of calphalon pans...love them...but was in need of a mid size pan. I use this size more than the 1 quart or 3 quart that came with the set. Perfect size for everyday use...excellent product and you simply can't find a better price!!!!
