I looked everywhere for a cheese plane just like this one. The Calphalon Cheese Plane has two sturdy cutting edges, one for slicing and one for cutting. The handle is very comfortable. I highly recommend this item!

It cuts too thick slices, for my taste anyway. This is a European style cutter, or plane/slicer. I have had many cutters like this, they all cut thinner slices, which I prefer. Other than that it is a good cutter, good quality and sharp edges.

very nice cheese plane. if it had a plastic protective cover that snapped onto it, both for hands and for keeping the blades sharp when stored, it would be 5 stars.

Good sturdy cheese plane; fits my hand very well and does a very good job. Works much better for the harder cheeses then a wire cutter. It is best to cut the cheese while it is still cold and firm and let to come to room temperature after it is cut. A cheese plane is not for soft cheeses.

I purchased this for my wife for Christmas. I read the reviews on Amazon and decided on this as a "better" product. It is! It works great. Having the knife on the end of the cutter is a great idea and I use it all the time. It shaves cheese very well and is stable and strong. I highly recommend, you will not be dissapointed with this cheese plane.

I recently broke the wooden handle off one I had for years. Water had gotten into the handle and corroded the metal. The handle on this one is comfortable. It also doesn't have a gap between the plane and the handle so water can't rest there after cleaning. I torqued up on the handle while the plane was on the table and it didn't bend. It is built sturdy and the plane is very sharp and not flimsy at all.

I prefer a cheese plane over a slicer because they are quick and easier to clean. I love the the dual blades on this one. I can slice the cheese until the block is thin then use the tip to cut the rest. It is a two in one tool.

I would purchase this again but I doubt I will need to buy another for a long time. Great product!

The best freakin cutter ever. Well worth price if you get the free shipping! And if you don't want to slice the cheese perfectly then you can cut flawless slices. It is the exact size of the cheese block as well which makes it easier so as not to rotate the cheese every slice to keep it from having a diagonal edge or breaking!

It does what I wanted it to do. Blade is sharp and seems well made. My only gripe is the soft rubber handle, it might become gummy in the future. Other than that, slices all the soft cheeses I put before it.

This is a great cheese plane. It is sharp and slices the cheese into a thin thickness just the way I like it.

I bought this based on the reviews and was disappointed. Both my husband and I sliced the skin off our thumb knuckles in the first couple of uses. It does not pull smoothly across the top of a medium-hard cheese, so when you finally reach the level of force necessary to begin the slice it comes quickly and unevenly. Both the cheese slice and our thumb knuckes are mangled. I bought this to fill a gap in our camping kitchen since I have a wooden handled one that I like in our regular kitchen. Now I'll spend the 8 bucks for the simple wooden handled one that works nicely and consider this an $18 loss to experimentation.
