For $100 dollars, you get an incredible sharp knife set. I compared this to KitchenAid® 14-Piece Stainless Steel w/Black Knife Block Set & Henckels International Eversharp Pro 13 Piece Block Set (both $100 also), this set was not 'flimsey' as the other two. I could not get any 'bend' or 'flex' from this set --- very solid and sturdy! This also compared very well too its more expensive cousin (Calphalon Contemporary 15-Piece Knife Block Set) and other pricey knife sets.

I have had excellent results and recommend this set if you can't afford (like myself) a much more expensive cutlery set.

Very good 'bang for your buck'

Calphalon makes absolutely incredible cutlery. My dad uses Calphalon's Contemporary Cutlery and loves it. I greatly considered buying the set as well, but I saw these at the store too. At almost half the price, these are amazing and of the same incredible quality as the higher priced set. Since I have used both sets in action, I can say that there is no difference in the quality or sharpness of the blades. Only the handle differs. As the guy mentions below about the block, it's true that some slots are too big for the knives, but the block is Calphalon's standard block, which accommodates all the blades except the steak knives, which is pretty standard. The set does NOT warrant a one star vote. For the person who wants a professional grade cutlery set without paying hundreds of dollars, definitely get the Calphalon Everyday Cutlery. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Excellent knives. Not too heavy, well balanced and good quality. Razor sharp right out of the box. Only draw back was the 1 size fits all block. Its a good block but there isn't any room for the steak knives but there are a few spaces for additional knives. Overall any excellent knife set. Very pleased.

This is a very nice knife set. I love the knife set and the convenient block to keep them all together and handy for use. I only have a few negative things to say about it but I would still buy it again. The scissors broke within the first six months but when I sent it back for a replacement they sent me another knife instead. I great knife but I still needed scissors so I just got some cheap ones at another store and keep it in the block where the broken one was. I am not that crazy about the steak knives, I would prefer not to have teeth in the knife. They are the only ones I have so I do use them. All of the other knives are top notch and everyone that uses them loves them. My children want to inherit them.

THESE KNIVES ARE A HUGE SAFETY RISK.

I will say that their knives are excellent, BUT the block DOES NOT accomodate the 6 steak knives included. They are meant to be "kept in a drawer." I don't know about you, but just keeping them uncovered (they do not have plastic sleeves available for them either) in a drawer is just asking for trouble. I called their customer service and they were less than helpful and said they would mail me some cardboard sleeves if they had some around. I have two children age 3 and under. I don't want to expose them to this risk, as well as any adult person who may want to get something out of the drawer. If you want to keep your family safe, don't buy.
