5.0 out of 5 stars Essential for original Professional Hard-Anodized products
Much easier to use than a clumsy and not-as-effective potholder, and, like all Calphalon products, will last forever. It's essential for the original line of professional hard-anodized products with handles that are impossible to grasp once the pan has been heated (unless you wish to be permanently branded).

3.0 out of 5 stars I guess you could call it 3 1/2 stars.
I own many Calphalon Commercial Hard Annodized pans. For the most part, the stay cool handles do indeed stay cool enough for me to not worry about the heat, especially in stove top situations. I own many Calphalon Commercial Hard Annodized pans. For the most part, the stay cool handles do indeed stay cool enough for me to not worry about the heat, especially in stove top situations. However, many recipes call for browning on the stove and then finishing up in the oven (these pans excell at this). The handles are HOT when they come out of the oven - thus I thought this pan handler would be just the thing.

I was somewhat disappointed by the construction of this item. I thought it would be thick, like the quilted cloth ones you see on sizzling fajita pans in restaurants. This thing is THIN! It is fine for covering the handles of pans in use on the cooktop, but with Calphalon's cool-v handles this was not a problem anyway! Unfortunately I have found that when an already heavy pan that is loaded with food emerges from a 350 degree oven this pan handler is not enough to keep the heat of the handle from reaching your hand (ouch).

I know it doesn't cost much but there has to be something better out there...

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Accessory for Some Calphalon Cookware, May 17, 2001

This Calphalon Suede Panhandler is an essential accessory for use with the original line of Calphalon Professional Hard Anodized Cookware because this line has chrome plated iron handles that get hot to the touch. I use the suede panhandler with omelette pans and sauté pans when I don't already have a Calphalon cool-grip on the handles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fuss-free pan holder, November 11, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Calphalon Suede Pan Handler (Kitchen)
Forget about the clumsy thick baking mitts and pot holders which do not allow for a good grip on the pan. This little piece of suede is perfect with cast iron pans with handles even though it is designed to be used with Calphalon pots and pans.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easier to use than a pot holder, December 7, 2004
This review is from: Calphalon Suede Pan Handler (Kitchen)
This thing is great! It slides right over the handle of a Calphalon pot/pan and it really keeps the heat out. Plus, it fits just right, so unlike a pot holder you don't have to worry about it slipping while you are holding a hot handle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for any of your pans, June 1, 2007

I've had several of these in the kitchen. Instead of rubber holders which have to slide and stay on certain brands' pans, these can be used on a variety of pans. Very easy to clean, easier to use.

CAUTION: don't leave them on pans over a gas range. If you leave the burners up to high (I've read your gas flame should 'just kiss' the bottom of the cookware), these can start to smolder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still like new after 13 years, August 28, 2007

This review is from: Calphalon Suede Pan Handler (Kitchen)
We bought our set of Calphalon pots and pans shortly after getting married 13 years ago. At that time we also bought two pan handlers. They are very handy and long lasting. They still look like new even though hubby and I have aged. :) I find they are the right thickness for stovetop cooking which these pots and pans are mainly supposed to be used.

I would recommend that anyone putting a pot/pan in a 300 + degree oven use some common sense and realize that the entire pot or pan will be 300+ degrees and use a hot pad when removing the item from the oven. The Pan handler is for use when cooking on a stovetop not for an oven.
