Calphalon One Nonstick 5-Quart Saucier with Steamer Insert

It's not the monster that their 8-qt saucier is, but it can hold way more than the 3-qt. The see-through glass cover is heavy and secure, and the pot really does clean up easy--as with all my non-stick, I usually just use a paper towel, or a sponge with hot soapy water. I am concerned that eventually the steamer insert might scratch--it's a snug fit. Lastly, I don't have to bend or cut the asparagus, or steam it in shifts--the whole bunch of stalks get dumped in and cooked evenly. Tasty.

I've been upgrading cookware and decided to buy it piece by piece rather than getting a set. This is a pan that I purchased to be able to get versatility and performance in one pan. It's filled that role and then some. The construction is top notch. Heavy, but not dutch oven cast iron heavy. Well built and designed. The handle on the lid stays cool to the touch even after 30 minutes of vigorous boiling, the handles on the sides likewise unless they're placed over open heat (let's say you don't center it over a burner). Because of the steamer insert this pan works well as a steamer. Because of the high sides and non-stick surface and thick bottom (and sides) the pan also can serve as a high-walled skillet. I notice the pan retains heat very well (again more nice design on this piece). Though I wanted a highly versatile pan, suddenly I find this is the pan I reach for most of all, whether for soups, or sauteing, or steaming, or for many of my cooking tasks that normally I used a special pan for, this versatile saucier just seems to work. I'm more an All Clad fan, but the performance of this pan is winning me over to Calphalon One. Also the price/performance ratio is very nice, excellent performance and great price. Did I mention the glass lid? It also really makes a difference in the extra versatility of this pan. The non-stick surface isn't like the sprayed on teflon pans, rather it's bonded and a little rougher. It's not absolutely 'no-stick' but offers a little grip. The real benefit here of a bonded coating is that it's much stronger. I usually use non-metallic utensils, but every now and then might use a metal ladle for instance, and nary a scratch can be seen, it's just an excellent surface. Overall I can't find a weakness and am very satisfied with this pan.

I really don't want to get into a lot of details but let me tell you, there is NO MATCH for the Calphalon ONE Nonstick line. There are soooo many calphalon lines like 'commercial', 'simply calphalon', 'classic', 'contemporary', 'cooking with calphalon', 'kitchen essentials from calphalon' etc. But the build quality of the Calphalon ONE line is like of Lexus when compared to even the top-of-the-line craps from lincoln/cadillacs: the build quality/finishing is ONE-OF-A-KIND in the cookware industry. You've seen many many hard anodized cookware surfaces, right? This one is Anodized, the surface is smooth (no visible lines).
Use: Heats up fast, even, handle stays cool and holds heat very well. The lid is VERY WELL MADE. Clean up is crazy easy.
If you are in the market for quality cookware, please don't kid yourself. Get the best you can get. One thing is that you won't find absolutely ANY SALE on these prices. Amazon's sale price (as well as all other vendors) IS THE MSRP by Calphalon (check their website). But Amazon usually has coupons which will bring the price down. Every penny you will spend on this is worth it.
If you own anything else besides Calphalon ONE and you think you have GREAT cookware, you are kidding yourself or your standards of perfection is low.
If you do get cookware from this line, you MUST use a pot rack to hang these. Stacking on top of each other should be avoided at all times.

Great pot! the size is perfect and this pot has now become the one i always reach for. I like how the handles do not get hot. Also, I believe this nonstick surface to be far superior to the Professional Calphalon I have. It washes up better too.

This is a terrific product. The size is just right for medium batch size cooking and the included steamer is perfect for single-meal vegetable preparation. It's not too heavy to handle and cleans up very easily. Highly recommended.

I wanted a medium sized saucier with steamer insert and after much online review settled upon this Calphalon product. I have not been disappointed. Quality is excellent and the Saucier has worked perfectly. I like everything about this product.

Hi i like to use it to steam, when i dont have time to cook so i just put all the vegetables and meat inside.
It is really fast to cook with this pot, you can use it to fry or stir fry too, but i prefer to steam, it is really durable and nice product, i really love this pot, even it is expensive but it is worth it.
the steel is really thick and will last long and investment for healthy life.

Nice gauge. Good quality product - easy to use & to clean. Came packaged very well. Definitely recommend this product.
