5.0 out of 5 stars Great pan at a great price
While I have coveted the more costly line of Calphalon cookware for years (the Pro line), I just received this great pan as a gift and am thrilled. while this saucepan is good in the kitchen, it does not really fit the needs of today's serious kitchenware collector. for example, i was shocked to find out that it doesn't come with a certificate of authenticity! however, if you are an amateur collector of pots and pans, though, this could be a nice introduction to the lucrative field of utensil dealing and trading.

While I have coveted the more costly line of Calphalon cookware for years (the Pro line), I just received this great pan as a gift and am thrilled. The 4-quart size is perfect for many uses (yet not as big as a saute pan or stock pot). It heated up more quickly that other cookware I have, it cleaned up like a breeze, and it still has that sleek professional look of the higher-priced cookware. Yet it is very affordable. I can't wait to get more of this line of cookware for my kitchen.

I am not a person who really knows which brands are better than others, though I will say that this particular pan is better than anything else that I have in my kitchen. I use this pan for EVERYTHING! I love how there are 2 handles...makes it much easier to pour the contents out without having to fear the pan will slip from my hands. Be careful though...both of the handles get fairly warm. I can't wait to get more of them in all sizes! I would recommend this product to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality, March 18, 2003

This review is from: Simply Calphalon Nonstick Collector's Edition 4-Quart Saucepan with Lid (Kitchen)
This was my first Calphalon purchase & I am completely thrilled with this sauce pan. This piece was replacing a very poor quality T-Fal and I felt like dancing the jig while throwing it out. This Calphalon is top quality. It is an excellent sized pot. Expect it to be much heavier so if you have arthritis you might want to pass on it.Of course, there is always SOMETHING that could be changed, I won't lie to you. The lid gets very hot & you'll need a pot holder or towel when touching it. Also, be careful taking the lid off as any liquid will not stay inside the lid (when upside down while checking/stirring food) and it will drip all over the stove. I think you will be very happy with this purchase & it seems sturdy enough to last a lifetime.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product with one minor flaw, February 26, 2003

This review is from: Simply Calphalon Nonstick Collector's Edition 4-Quart Saucepan with Lid (Kitchen)
I have been looking for a pan of this size to complete my Calphalon set. I like the pan, however, it has one minor flaw from my standpoint. The Lid gets to hot handle after just a minute or so of cooking. All my other pans, the lid handle stays cool or takes a long time to heat up.
I keep burning my fingers, I guess it will take time for me to remember to use a towel to move the lid.

I bought this pot because I just wanted something this size for a good price. What I did not expect was the quality when I recieved it. I never want another pot without a nonstick surface. The handle stays cool to the touch and nothing sticks to this surface! Clean up is a breeze.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Simply Calphalon Nonstick Collector's Edition 4-Quart Saucepan with Lid (Kitchen)
I originally had purchased an 8 peice Simply Calphalon set from Foleys here in Texas when they were on sale. I decided to check out Amazon.com after reading their ad in the paper. Thank goodness I did. I couldn't find this product for less than 50 buck here in Texas but got it dirt cheap here. What is great is that this is not a case of you get what you pay for. I got way more IMO. As for this and other Simply Calphalon products, I highly recommend them. Their only flaw is that the pot lid tends to get a bit hot after cooking for a while. However head distribution over the pot is very even, the no stick surface is perfect and the handles are riveted on with large sturdy rivets. These pans were made for cooking and that's what this cajun is gonna do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sauce pan for Elsie (with apologies to Edward Gorey), April 15, 2003

I bought this for a sample of Simply Calphalon with some trepidation, but at the price I figured "what the heck". I'm really pleased with this pan. Great size for polenta or risotto, the deep straight sides make it difficult to splash the contents on the stove, but I managed anyway. The best thing is the clean up, a swish of the sponge and it's ready to use again! I'd have given it 5 stars except for the lid which gets really hot. Not a biggie, since I don't usually cook things covered anyway. Also, made in China not Toledo like my other Calphalon stuff. All in all a great saucepan worth every penny. Now if Elsie will just stop screaming...if you haven't read Edward Gorey's "The Curious Sofa" get a copy and read it now. (Also in the "Amphigorey" anthology.)
