5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite cooking vessels!
I received this 4-quart casserole as a freebie when I bought a few other pieces and I have to say, it's one of my most-used and most-loved cooking vessels.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very shallow pan
Pay close attention to the photo and dimensions. This casserole is much shallower than I thought it would be. It's almost like a glorified frying pan. Not a useful size.

I received this 4-quart casserole as a freebie when I bought a few other pieces and I have to say, it's one of my most-used and most-loved cooking vessels.

It fits that in-between size that's bigger than your standard pot but smaller than your dutch oven. I use it for making soups and stews, popping popcorn (1/2 cup of corn to about 3-4 tbsp of oil is PERFECT in this pot), making boxed pasta like Pasta Roni and that kind of thing. I like that it has the short handles that make it fit a crowded stove and the fact that it can go into the oven to finish off is great!

The non-stick surface is wonderful and super easy to clean up. And it's pretty sturdy too. It doesn't seem like it's too easy to scratch. I've had mine for over a year and have used metal utensils at times and never have had a problem. The base is plenty heavy for even searing on small roasts and stew meat. The lid fits fine and the curve of it is great because it forces the liquid back into the pot and also promotes an almost convective heat turn over.

I really do love this vessel and would highly recommend it for everyday use. It can handle it!

This pan is perfectly sized for me. The Calphalon One Non-stick 10-inch everyday pan is great- but a little shallow. This pan is the same diameter but is deeper. On the downside, it is not nearly as well constructed as its cousin in the Calphalon One line. But it works for me.... BTW- this pan is offered as a premium with a minimum purchase from the Calphalon line.

I cook in this pot at least once or twice a week... it's a perfect size for two or a small family... for chili, stew, roast, soup, etc. It cleans up great and looks good as well!

I use this pan constantly. It's the perfect size for use at dinner preparation time as well as at breakfast. It cooks evenly, even at the sides, which works great for browning. My husband likes "egg scramble" for breatkfast. To make this I brown diced green peppers, diced onion and garlic. Then whip eggs with some mayonaise and salt/pepper and pour them over the vegetables after they've softened in the pan. I've found that no matter where in the pan the vegetables cook, they simmer evenly. And the eggs are all done at the same time which prevents them from drying out. As I said, I LOVE this pan! And cleaning is a breeze!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Calphalon Hard 4 QT., August 20, 2008

I have used this pan for several months now and it is the perfect size for side dishes, soups and stews. I have even used it on the gas grill outdoors. Short handles on the sides make it very easy to move around and carry. I do like the stainless steel lid. It reminds me that it has a non-stick interior, unlike my other Calphalon Commercial grade hard anodized cooking vessels which I use daily. This four quart is also good to make home made fudge, puddings and frostings. Clean up is a BREEZE.

Great pan! It's between a skillet and a sauce pan. I find I reach for it more often because it'd bigger then the regular sauce pan. Great for those frozen bag dinners, doesn't overflow like the skillet
