I recently purchased several pieces of the Calphalon Cookware. This by far is my most favorite. It is the perfect size for making just about anything and the non-stick factor makes it so much fun to cook. I really did a lot of research to find an everyday pan to cook with. I would recommend that everyone has this piece in their kitchen.

Calphalon should have given this pan its more prestigous Chef Skillet or Everyday Pan monicer, because that's what it is, a good, all-purpose pan that you can fry, saute, and simmer in.

Sure, you get something similar from Revere or Farber for a bit less money, but the all metal construction has a number of advantages. First, the anonized aluminum heats quickly and evenly. Actually, unlike most non-stick pans, this allows you to get it hot enough to properly brown ingredients. Also, since it has metal handles, you can also put it in the oven or under the broiler. Cheaper pans have plastic or rubberized handles that can melt.

Except for being metal, the only thing I don't like about the pan is the handle. It has this art deco styling that actually makes the pan twist in your hand if the handle is a bit wet.

Also keep in mind, the non-stick coating on the Simply Calphalon line is not as thick as the Commercial, Professional II, and One non-stick lines. So it will wear out in four or five years with regular use. But all non-stick, no matter how expensive, does wear out in about 10 years and since this pan is a fifth the cost of some of the others, you can just replace it when it's time comes.

Although it's a 'chicken fryer', I use it to pan-fry everything, and it works amazing! The depth of the pan allows larger amount of food inside, being stirred without spilling out. And the smaller diameter helps to concentrate heat in the pan. The nonstick feature truly works, nothing sticks to the pan, even the thick starch.

I never thought a thing about cookware and bought the cheapest stainless sets I could find. Then I bought a Calphalon pan and was just amazed at the difference. When people write about their food heating evenly, they mean it. You only have to heat to "medium" to have what "high" would be on a cheap pan. The whole bottom of the pan stays hot--even the parts that aren't directly on the eye. But using them will spoil you and it will be hard to use anything else. This fryer is a nice, big size (and remember, the whole bottom stays hot)--perfect for almost any food. I agree with the person who wrote that it was limiting for them to call it a "chicken fryer". You will use it for a lot more than that. Well worth the money.

I have bought a new Whirpool flat ceramic cook top range and have been searching a wok/ or wok alike that would work on this flat cooking surface. Most of the Chinese wok have a round bottom and won't work with this kind of cook top. I have been using the normal pan for stir frying but it is not the same as a wok. Well, THE SEARCH IS FINALLY OVER. I found this Simply Calphalon Nonstick 12 inch fryer the last trip to Bed Bath and Beyond store. It was on sale for $31.99 and I have those $5 off coupon they sent to my house. So the total cost was $26.99 plus tax. Not bad at all for a 10 years waranty. The lady there told me if I EVER unsatisfy with it or if it scratch before 10 yr waranty, I can just bring it back to the store and they will give me refund or a new one. I am so happy.

Here are some of the things I like about the pan

- This pan does NOT require highest heat for cooking. I normally used the highest heat with other pan, but I only need med/med-high when using this pan.

- The edge is high enough to hold everything inside when I toss stuff in it.

- The bottom is exactly the size of the big cooktop and it transfer the heat really well. (unlike the chinese wok that has round bottom and it won't work with the flat top- believe me I am chinese..LOL)

- The nonstick part works really well. I used less and less oil when cooking and sometimes none.

- cleaning is a breeze. I just wait for it to cool down and just rinse it with sponge. I know you can put in dishwasher...but I find it easy to clean.

I gave it 4 star because of the size. It is big...I wish they have a smaller one..10 inch or 8 inch may be. Don't get me wrong..I have small kitchen. If you have space for it..this item is a must have.

This fryer is perfect. I already had an electic fryer, so I use this one as a wok, which is great. Perfect size and good price. It's a good buy...

In the past we purchased an 8 and 10 inch Calphalon skillet and have enjoyed them thoroughly. But, there were a number of times that the 10 inch was just too small. We decided we needed a 12 inch skillet and we absolutely love our new Calphalon Chicken Fryer. Not only is it 12 inches in diameter it is deep and allows us to cook so many different types of meals. Tha fact that it can go from stove top into the oven is tremendous. This pan is a must-have for all kitchens. The price is reasonable and the quality is great.

This is, hands down, the best cookware I've ever used. In fact, this is the ONLY non-stick cookware that is actually non-stick without having to use spray or oil, etc. The non-stick lining is very thick and even. I've used it in the oven and broiler and the food turned out terrific and clean up was a breeze. I bought this pan while it was on special for about $40 and received free shipping. My local Walmart wanted at least $30 for higher quality pans that were not as nice and not oven proof. I've owned T-fal in the past, and this beats it hands down for non-stick and ease of clean up. I am slowly throwing out the rest of my mis-matched cheap "non-stick" pans and will build a Calphalon set. I want to purchase at least 1 more of these "chicken fryer" pans because it is so deep and versitile.

Never pass up these Calphalon fryers and/or skillets. Great in the kitchen and Calphalon stands behind their products! And the specials are wonderful. I recently gave a skillet as a wedding gift.

This is an excellent pan! I use this pan on a daily basis for everything from fried chicken to beef stew. I even make baked ziti in it! It is simple to clean and cooks evenly. A wonderful product.
