great cookware,
This review is from: Calphalon One Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
has only been 1 month since the purchase, but I love it. Also own a couple of All Clad fry pans, which I hate to use because everything sticks to them. With Calphalon, there are no stains on the bottom from gas flame, and although they are not DW safe, they are so-oo-oo easy to wash! The cookware is a little heavy, but I'm used to carrying my kid around, so that was not a problem for me. As for the price - I think it's OK, considering it comes with a lifetime warranty.

Adonized vs. Nonstick or All Clad vs. Calphalon???,

This review is from: Calphalon One Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I highly recommend this set over the Adonized for those who need the security of non-stick you can't go wrong with this set. What I have to caution buyers is that the packaging that this item comes in is not durable and unlike {{All Clad}} it does not come individually boxed, so in shipping the likelihood that your items have been moved around (scratched) is HIGHLY probable since they don't even come in padded tissue paper.
For cooking purposes I love this set it is well worth the money but if you purchase this as a gift be forewarned take the time to open the box inspect it... then add your own bubble wrap if you are sending this long distance as a gift... TRUST me I have had the misfortune of having at least 3 sets of these that I sold personally on a site that the buyers complained the items were scratched. If purchasing from a dept. store inspect the box before your purchase if you are buying here off of Amazon (which these prices BEAT Department stores) just make sure that you check the items as soon as you receive. The folks at Bed Bath and Beyond sold us on this flagship set from Calphalon, essentially telling us that these were the best and only set of pots and pans that we'd ever need. Like fools, we bought their line and the set. Here's the bottom line: We used them according to the manufacturer's instructions and 14 months later, they are falling apart. The Anodized Non-stick surface is flaking off and food sticks to what's left almost every time. You might be thinking that we probably used a brillo pad on them, let them soak overnight or put them in the dishwasher (all of these are no-nos), but we didn't. And honestly, the non-stick surface was a mediocre performer from day one. And who wants a set that you can't load up in the dishwasher anyway? And no soaking? Are you serious? Afraid so. We should have read all the fine print first (as usual).
Essentially you have to clean them as soon as you use them and when the no-stick surface turns out not to be, you have to use a dish cloth to "scrub" them out. Good luck with that. This is NOT a lifetime set. Maybe, MAYBE, it would be worth the price tag if it lasted 10 years, but it won't. The regular ol' teflon stuff is just as durable as the Calphalon Anodized One set, does better in the no-stick category, is workable in the dishwasher and oh yeah, it isn't $500+. If you are determined to go with Calphalon, I would get the regular steel/ chrome set. This less expensive set is far more durable, less finicky, less annoying and a better value all the way around. If you get these as a wedding gift, then be glad and take 'em back for the cash.

Calphalon One Infused and Anondized Non-stick Cookware,

I have fallen in love with my pots and pans! These bands are pleasant to look at and a dream to clean,(even things like cheeses and other hard to clean items). The food cooks on lower temparatures and cooks evenly. I have never owned a set a pans that were so versatile.

Such a let down...,

We had the 13" skillet and a pot, both the Calphalon One non-stick. They both began chipping and flaking after about 5 months. Normally I would think, if someone complained of this happening to them, that they were obviously doing something wrong to the finish. I can assure you that we take very good care of our cookware. We never put them in the dishwasher, hand-washed them the same night after cooking with them, never used metal utensils on them, and used very soft sponges to clean them. Our skillet began flaking so bad that it started to rust last week so we had to stop using it. Both the pot and skillet began to chip around the time time, and they were used for two very different cooking purposes. I believe the finish was defective in the products sold a year ago. We went in to Bed Bath and Beyond last night to see if we could exchange the two pieces for stainless steal. (They let us, by the way, believing as well that they were defective). While at the store, we stopped to take a gander at the same pot and skillet - the new ones have a totally new finish on them. It looks completely different from ours we bought over a year ago. I think Calphalon knows about this defect and have since tried to make the product better. So maybe if you purchase a new piece, you'll have better luck. However, I would strongly recommend stainless or cast iron above a non-stick set any day. Even though it's Calphalon brand, beware.
Also, we bought the Calphalon One grill pan the same day we bought the skillet and pot. The Grill pan is still in top shape, never flaked at all. We cleaned it the same way we did the skillet and pot. And strangely enough, since it's a grill pan for meat, I've used metal tongs on it all the time - not one scratch or chip or flake. I think it's hit and miss with Calphalon as they seem to always be changing their products. Even in the store last night we saw a rack of omelet pans, all with minor differences - they were all the same product number and same price, yet some had smaller rivets, some had slightly different handles, etc. (Leading me to believe that they are constantly changing their design - not to say they are making them worse, I believe they are trying to make their products better, but you might get stuck being the "lab rat" as they work out the kinks.) I'm just concerned that Calphalon isn't the top-of-the-line brand they used to be. It makes sense, though. The more a professional brand becomes accessible to the public at large, the more they skimp on the production. Another reason why I'm wary of Calphalon now is that on their care instructions, it doesn't matter if it's hard-anodized, stainless, non-stick, or whatever - they have almost unreasonable instructions. You can't soak them, you can't use cooking spray, you can't you can't you can't. I would think that a top brand like Calphalon would be focusing on ways to make outstanding cookware - pieces that stand the test of time and are actually made to be cooked in and cleaned. That's just my opinion, but only in a perfect world I guess. I'm giving them one star b/c I really hoped to use these products longer than one year. Also, it claims to evenly distribute the heat but it never did, even from day one. For the same price or slightly cheaper, you can get stainless or cast iron so this set is NOT worth the money.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Calphalon One Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
A few years ago when I saw that Calphalon was coming out with their new "One" line, I was excited. I come from a family that loves to cook, and our Calphalon pans have been great in the past.
Spending $500 on pans is a lot, I'll admit. I started by buying some of the open stock pans, just to make sure that I liked the performance and quality. After an 18-month "test drive", I was sold. I bought the 10-piece Nonstick set from Amazon, which arrived in fine condition with no damage to the box or any of the pans (though they are poorly packed, I will admit). I use my pans daily. Some of my favorite things about the pans are the ability to cook eggs or cheese without lengthy clean-up. Just let the pan cool, and you can generally wipe them out with a paper towel.

Overated...,

This review is from: Calphalon One Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I have used these pans expressly as according to the manufacturer's instructions including throwing out all my spoons spatula's etc and replacing them with silicone and wood. Less than 2 years later the Non-stick surface is both breached and is flaking off. I have read these reviews before and thought the user just didn't know what they were doing, but I can honestly say after making an investment like this we carefully followed all the rules. We have cleaned them according the manufacturers recommendations and they just do not hold up. I was initially very happy with the set but quickly fell out of love with them. I agree with the sentiment that this is NOT a lifetime set but they price it like it is.

Nothing sticks!,

Wow! I love these pans because nothing sticks to them! I made several turkey and cheese omelettes for my family this weekend with the 10" fry pan and even the cheese came right off! I even got some browning color on my omelette so it even looked great! Clean up is a breeze. I just used my sponge with a little bit of soapy water (per the instructions) and everything came right off! Even the outside was pretty easy to clean. I would highly recommend these pans to anybody who is looking for great nonstick pans!

Buyer Beware,

We recieved these as a wedding gift in 2004 and now I find that we need all new pots and pans. I love to cook and use these everyday. First - they do not heat evenly, I am constantly moving food around the pan to get the right heat. They have been chipping almost since they were new. We take very good care of our things, and always washed these pans carefully and have never used a metal utensil. So what gives? I have a non stick pan I brought to college (a LONG time ago) that has faired better than these. I have to wonder why they are being sold through a clearance company?
