Expensive but worth it.,

This review is from: Calphalon One Nonstick 8-Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
The pan is performing as hoped for. This small 8 inch pan is used for preparing an egg or sweating onions, peppers, etc. The metal handle has not gotten hot. The three rivets holding the handle to the pan transmits a solid feel and the handle's correct length allows good control for flipping. Everything easily washes off with a rag.

Great pan, buy cheaper elsewhere,
This review is from: Calphalon One Nonstick 8-Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
This pan is being sold with it's bigger sister, the Calph One non-stick 10" frying pan for a quarter of their usual price. Go to the Calph web site or WS (or Google it). Don't know how long this deal will last, but it's a steal. I bought 2 sets and I'm thinking of going back for more.

Very Disappointed,

I purchased this Calphalon ONE 8-inch pan to match my set I received as a wedding shower gift. When I received it, I noticed flaws in the pan immediately. I then noticed the "Second Hand" sticker on the pan itself and then the tag for the Calphalon Outlet Store on the bottom of the pan. VERY deceiving as I thought I was buying a "First Hand" pan and not a "Second Hand pan." I did not see anywhere in the description that this was to be the case. Correct me if I am wrong. The pan has several scratches on the inside surface near the handle and the surface of the pan in NOT the same surface as the pans that I currently own. The set I have has a smooth surface to cook on, this one is a rough surface. I am confused as to why this pan was labeled "Calphalon ONE" because clearly it is not. I took a chance on the seller after reading some negative reviews about them - I wish I listened to my instinct and not purhased through them as I thought something was a bit sketchy. I will keep the pan, but definitely not happy with the deceitfulness of the seller.

2nd best pan in the kitchen,

We love this pan. Bought it as a match for the larger one we bought in a discount store. We needed this for smaller recipes. The only reason it is the '2nd best pan' is that we got it second!
I looked all over in stores. This model was no longer available and I wanted a totally metal handle for oven use. Why do I waste gas? Viva Amazon! The seller did not pack it really well. The handle was sticking out of the box. But that is just further testimony to the durability of the pan. Not a scratch or a wiggle. Get this pan!

Five Star Nonstick Pan,
This review is from: Calphalon One Nonstick 8-Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
I have to admit that I am a bit of a crummedgeon when it comes to Nonstick pans. Don't need them for most applications. But for some things, I find them to be a necessary evil that from time to time I must surrender to...like for eggs and cheesy stuff and some overly sticky foods. I've had a Calphalon One 12" pan for the last 2 years and I must admit it is in quite good shape. I didn't think the Nonstick would last so long. Usually I had bought cheap throw-away nonstick pans which after a year I'd just throw it away and buy a new cheapie at Walmart. Well, I am not throwing away my 12" Calaphalon One Nonstick and it looks like it has many years more to go. I only use nylon or wood utensils with Nonstick and I always let the pan cool down BEFORE handwashing.
I use different pans for different things. For some things I like stainless steel and for others I just love cast iron and that includes the enameled cast irons like Le Creuset etc. I also like the regular infused anodized Calphalon One for somethings. I like to cook but cleaning up does not really give me a thrill. And these Calphalon One Nonstick pans do clean up quick and easy. Now I only use Nonstick for sticky things and sometimes its nice to have more than one. So, I finally broke down and bought the "8 and 10" and as I had expected they work just as well as my 12". No, I'm not a convert to Nonstick cookware at all. Although it is nice to have for some things. Sometimes it is nice to have a few of these pans handy in your arsnel...especially at breakfast time. The 8 incher can be especially handy.

Reinventing the Kitchen - One pan at a time,
By
This review is from: Calphalon One Nonstick 8-Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
After trying my luck (and my patience) with numerous other inferior brands, I have come to the well-founded opinion that Calphalon not only continues to release revolutionary products on a regular basis, but also that their fine engineers must be working hours on little to no sleep in order to manufacture a pan with the non-stick capabilities that this one posseses.
My initial impetus for purchasing this pan was as a Kwanza gift for Grandfather. He repeatedly warns the family against buying him what he considers "those confounded pans that do nothing but raise my blood pressure with their sticky indigence just because some new wunderkind just out of college believes he's got the sought after non-stick recipe. Well truly I tell all of you, do not bother with any such purchases this year." After noticing the level of despair beneath Grandfather's veil of rhetorical anger, I decided to take this speech as a challenge. After weeks of futile search, I was drawn to this product. An immediate home kitchen testing proved any potential doubts that I was harboring as fanciful. The four interlocking nonstick layers (obviously infused with Calphalon's own advanced relase polymer) practically guaranteed half of the time previously needed to adequately clean kitchenware of a more degenerate nature. Despite this already easily acquired level of confidence I came to with the cookware, I felt one big test was needed before my full endorsement could be granted. Indeed, I want nothing but the best for Grandfather. This man has been through a Depression, a World War, three wives, layoffs at the plant, incessant supplications for money from me, and an outbreak of ebola among the zebras at the zoo. What more does this man need? other than simply a pan that works like Calphalon intended. Anyways, one Thursday night I invited over the neighborhoods most notoriously bad panhandlers (a little fun name us panophiles like to call those who are not as well trained with proper pan etiquette [PPE]). Well, as SoySauce Sam and Ken the KitchenKatastrophe walked in my house, I knew the Calphalon Nonstick 8-inch fry pan was going to have all that she could handle, and more. But to my extreme relief (and surprise might I add), she managed beautifully. Nothing could deter her from making every substance that came in contact with her polymer exterior not stick. The dreaded hot oven test left no sign of stain or flim-flam. With that, I knew Grandfather would be A-OK. Needless to say, after a couple of lackluster gifts (fake handlebar mustache, mad libs, exploding golf tees, etc.) Grandfather was more than happy to receive his Calphalon from me. |
