This substantial stockpot performs its workhorse functions beautifully. Its 12-quart capacity and large size--10-1/2 inches in diameter by 10 inches deep--means plenty of room for soup for eight or large batches of stock (make it once and freeze what you don't need for a later date). The virtues of Calphalon's anodized aluminum are highly praised among cooks: even heat distribution, quick heating and cooling, stick-resistant surfaces, durable construction, and attractive design. The patented finish allows you to use little or no oil, and cooking is usually done at slightly lower temperatures due to the high conductivity of the metal. The details of this stockpot make it especially satisfying to use: riveted handles are sturdy and well shaped for the hand (though they can get hot, so be careful), and the lip of the pot is gently curved to allow for easy pouring of stocks and soups. Care for this pan with consideration for the long, useful life it offers: always wash it by hand with mild cleaners. --Sherry Smith

THIS POT HELPS ME MAKE PRIZE WINNING CHILI! PEOPLE NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE WHEN I COOK IN CALPHALON. THE BIG PLUS FOR ME IS THE EASY CLEANUP. I HAVE MADE FUDGE AND RICE KRISPIE TREATS BOTH OF WHICH ARE VERY STICKY BUT THIS CLEANS UP WITH LITTLE EFFORT. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST VERSITILE PANS I HAVE.
