5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific cookware
I have had this cookware set for several years, and I love it. Three factors are essential in quality cookware, 1. Even heating, 2. Responsiveness to heat, and 3. Ease of cleaning. I have never seen cookware that was excellent in all three, until this set.

2.0 out of 5 stars Watch out for lemon juice
For such expensive pots and pans, these are easily damaged by a very common cooking ingredient: lemon juice. Want to cook a fish with a little lemon and olive oil? Better reach for a different pan. And don't even think of letting anything marinate in these pots! If you're willing to spend so much for pots, I'd look at All Clad's lines, which are much more durable.

This review is from: Calphalon Professional Nonstick II 10-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I have had this cookware set for several years, and I love it. Three factors are essential in quality cookware, 1. Even heating, 2. Responsiveness to heat, and 3. Ease of cleaning. I have never seen cookware that was excellent in all three, until this set.

These pans heat extremely evenly. I have an electric stove with which it was nearly impossible to get even heat with my prior cookware. When I cooked most things some food would burn. That was because of uneven heat. These Calphalon pans heat uniformly across the entire surface; you will not get any "hot spots."

To properly cook some dishes I begin on a higher heat to brown, then turn the heat down to slowly cook. With most cookware, when I turn down the heat it takes forever for the pan to cool down. (how many times have you found yourself lifting the pan off the burner to accomplish this?) These Calphalon pans heat up almost instantly when I turn the heat up and then cool down nearly as quickly when you turn the heat down.

I have never had pans that were this easy to clean. You just run then under hot water, brush with a soapy sponge and they are spotless.

Regarding some of the comments about lemon and other acidic foods, I checked Calphalon's website and got some details. You can cook anything in the pans, but you do not want to store or marinate any acidic foods (tomato, lemon, etc.) in the pans or they may discolor. It does not hurt the functionality of the pans; they just turn a different shade after prolonged acidic contact. This does not concern me, however, because you should not store or marinate in any cookware. You should use plastic or glass to avoid discoloring or adding a metallic taste to your food.

If you want excellent nonstick cookware, this is a terrific choice.

4.0 out of 5 stars I agree!, December 7, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Calphalon Professional Nonstick II 10-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
This is a wonderful nonstick cookware set! These are heavy-duty, yet user friendly pots and pans. I recieved this set for Christmas last year and have been in cooking heaven ever since!

The only problem that I've seen with the pans, is that while the interior is extremely easy to clean, the outside is very easily soiled and stained. After one year of use, the outside of all of the pots and pans is spotted and streaked with darker colored areas. I don't know if this is from oily foods that have splashed over, or if it is just basic build-up. I've tried lots of elbow grease along with all of the cleansers that Calphalon recommends and nothing seems to take the discoloration away. This might not be a problem for those with gas ranges -- I've always heard that electric stoves make the exterior of cookware dirtier.

Other than that, this set is fabulous. The handles will last forever, the nonstick coating is unbeatable, and this set contains all of the sizes that the average cook needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Cookware that we have Used, April 13, 2001

My husband and I looked for a couple months to find the right cookware for us - the search was well worth the effort. This set is GREAT!

Pans tend to take a little longer to heat than some of my old cookware, but heat the food more evenly. Clean-up is extremely easy. The size of the pans are good for the medium size meals that I cook. The see through lids are helpful (my daughter enjoys them quite a bit as she helps in the kitchen).

I was so happy with the performance of this cookware, that I also bought the square skillet, the steamer (that fits multiple pans) and the strainer for the 10 qt pot, which I use for cooking pasta.

Great cookware - highly recommended!

We recently upgraded to this set, and we couldn't be happier! The non-stick surface makes it very easy to use and clean. And we especially like the glass lids.

This review is from: Calphalon Professional Nonstick II 10-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
Well, I guess I should write a review, seeing as it was the reviews on Amazon that helped me to decide to buy this product.

I just got my new Calphalon cookware last week - it was a birthday gift to myself. I'm absolutely thrilled with this set. It's the first "real" set I've ever owned and I don't think I'll be switching - ever. I'm already adding accessories and more products to my wish list and hope to continue growing my Calphalon collection.

This set is excellent, and has almost everything you could need to get started. You might want to consider buying the 12" omlet pan, too; the 8" and 10" are both pretty small, and I think a larger one will come in handy.

This cookware is great for use, easy to care for, and makes cooking so much easier. It's a great conductor of heat and heats up and cools off as quickly as I'd like it to. I'm a beginner cook, and this set makes all of my attempts turn out better!

I can honestly say that this set makes me feel like a better cook! If I had to come up with a gripe, it might be that it's such good cookware, I'm afraid I'm going to ruin it, and I wish that the set would have come with more in-depth care instructions. I bet if I search the web, I could find them online, but it would have been nice for them to come in the box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, versatile and a brand you can trust!, July 19, 2001
This review is from: Calphalon Professional Nonstick II 10-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
This is a nice set of cookware to get started with. I just love the stay cool handles which come in handy when you instinctively grab the handle as i do. (Have burnt myself many times with others). What made the biggest difference for me is the glass lids. I like to see my food w/o disturbing it. Nice variety to get you started with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the best, December 17, 2000
By

This review is from: Calphalon Professional Nonstick II 10-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
Calphalon cookware is the best for the home chef. With proper care, the nonstick surface will last for many, many years but that is true of most nonstick cookware. What makes Calphalon special is that is a very efficient cooking surface. In other words, it takes much less heat from the burner to cook on Calphalon. Many chefs learn this the hard way by cooking a recipe that they know well for the first time on their new Calphalon and burning the meal.

The one downside to these pans is that the handles are metal and will get very hot. You should always use oven mitts or, better yet, get the cozies that they sell to use on the handles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Faber Ware, April 29, 2001

I have used many types of cook ware, however this product, the Calaphon ware is the best that I have ever used. My rice turns out perfect, my steaks are tender, juciy and they clean up so easily. Cooking fish is a snap, I just use Pam's Lemon butter spray on the fish, pop the filets in the pan, turn them and they turn out great. As far as I am concerned, this set is the best and my brothers think so to.
