5.0 out of 5 stars You can't go wrong with Calphalon
When my husband and I got married recently, we looked for quite a while for the right set of pots and pans to register for. Recent college graduates, we didn't have a decent piece of cookware between us, and were really determined to have something that would last.

The nonstick version of calphalon is really for those who aren't very serious about cooking. Part of the charm of Calphalon - esp. the professional hard anodized line - is that it is incredibly durable and can be subjected to the kind of abuse I find in my restaurant kitchen. The no-stick stuff has to be treated with kid gloves: you can't use real utensils and have to get those plasticky nylon things, you can't properly deglaze the pan (a huge issue if you do any French cooking), etc.

And anyway, the hard-anodized stuff cleans up really well in itself. Even in the worst-case, charred scenarios, simply put some hot soapy water in it and let it soak awhile, and stuff'll come right out. I've had my set for many years, and it's still like new. Non-stick stuff - even Calphalon's - just doesn't have that kind of lifespan.

When my husband and I got married recently, we looked for quite a while for the right set of pots and pans to register for. Recent college graduates, we didn't have a decent piece of cookware between us, and were really determined to have something that would last.

I am happy to say that this Calphalon set has more than met our needs in the 7 months since we've had it. It is simply a fantastic set of cookware - from the hard anondized cooking service that I've never had to scrub to the fact that the metal handles make the pieces both stove and oven safe - this is the cookware set for you. As a previous reviewer noted, there is hardly even a need to use oil or butter when cooking in these pans, so low fat cooking is a breeze.

A few caveats which in no way detract from the set, but which you should know about:
1) If you want to get the best life out of your pieces, you really shouldn't use them in the dishwasher. Since clean-up is so easy, however, this is practically a non-issue.
2) I suggest buying a set of Calphalon utensils to use with these. You can use your current stainless utensils and they probably won't scratch the finish, but when making an investment like this, who wants to take the chance?
3) Remember that although you are getting two omelet pans with the set, they don't come with lids and in fact aren't even made to be used with lids. If you do a lot of skillet cooking for meals as I do, you may want to supplement the set with the covered Chef's pan or Everyday pan, also by Calphalon.

I really can't say enough about how much we enjoy this set - I guarantee you'll love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars High quality non-stick cookware, January 1, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Calphalon Professional Nonstick II 8-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
This set of cookware is great for low fat cooking. You don't need to add any cooking spray or oil to prevent food from sticking (not even with eggs or cheese). The clear lids help you to view contents (but the lid handles do get hot). I would highly recommend this set for those individuals who like to cook low fat meals and don't mind using plastic cookware utensils.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful cookware!!, April 28, 2000

We recently purchased this set of cookware and use it constantly. It has a nice feel, quality non-stick, professional appearance, and cleans beautifully. The glass lids make it easy to keep an eye on things. The pot handles stay cool however the lid handles get hot, so be warned and keep potholders handy. We also added in the "everyday" pan and these pans meet our needs perfectly!

5.0 out of 5 stars Had this item for years!, October 26, 2002

I've had these for 6 years and they look just like the day I bought them on the inside. I suggest them to all of my friends and family, in fact I'm currently ordering a set for my mother for Christmas! I have used only plastic and wooden utensils and wash them by hand instead of dishwasher. They wash up very easliy even after sitting overnight. I like them a lot and would never consider buying anything else for myself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Go commercial instead..., October 13, 2003

This review is from: Calphalon Professional Nonstick II 8-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
After owning a Professional Nonstick II saute pan for about two years and raving about it, the nonstick surface has started to wear out, with an increasingly sticky center (arggh!). I will probably have to take advantage of that Lifetime Warranty. However, I now have bought the Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 12" pan, which is also occasionally on special for around 25 bucks. The Commercial Nonstick line has the superior LRS3 nonstick coating compared to the cheaper LRS coating on the Professional line. It tends to cost a little more, but it's worth it.
Believe me, it makes a difference!

So, go commercial, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this Cookware!!, December 2, 2003

I love my cook set!! I am convinced that my food tastes better because of it. Clean up is very easy. My only complaint is the "bolts" are inside and low in the skillets and tend to get food all over them. A little more diligence in cleaning those is all they require, but it would be nice if I didn't have to worry about it. However, even with that minor complaint, there is no way I'd return this set. In fact, I'm looking for and buying additional pieces- larger skillet and larger saucepan, in particular.
