Ideal for pancakes, eggs, bacon, burgers, steaks, and other flat foods, this 11-inch-square griddle has a rugged nonstick coating that's oven-safe to 450 degrees F for pan-roasting a veal chop or hunk of halibut. It's made of heavy aluminum to heat evenly and quickly. Because the aluminum is anodized it's harder than steel and the griddle won't scratch, chip, crack, or peel. A low lip eases access for a turner and contains grease. But because it's nonstick the griddle requires little or no cooking oil. The rolled stainless-steel handle stays cool on the stovetop and has a hole for hanging on hook or peg. Safe with nylon, wood, and plastic utensils, the griddle should be hand washed to extend the nonstick coating's life. You get what you pay for...
I have had 3 other square griddles in the... dollar range which all cooked unevenly especially right above the circular heating element not to mention how they warped and thus are useless on a smooth top range. I make a lot of grilled cheese and french toast. This surface area allows for 4 large slices of bread. The key is following the manufactorer's instructions: Set your heating element to medium and allow the pan to heat up for 3-5 minutes. I don't adjust the heat once preheated, it cooks best just left on medium heat.

I am a big fan of calphalon, but I bought this pan and it warped. It is no longer useable on my stove. This is the only Calphalon pan I own that I have ever had problems with. Sometimes my kids cook and tend to use alot of heat, so perhaps this is why it warped. It is also not as heavy as most of my other pans. two stars is all I can give this pan.

I've been using this griddle for about 3 months now and cannot say enough about it. The non-stick coating is fabulous and when making pancakes, I do not have to use any oil or butter at all. The handle stays very cool to the touch and is easy to grip.

So far the pan has not warped in any way and is still in perfect condition. I would highly recommend this griddle for anybody who is into breakfast.
