We bought this to use this Thanksgiving for our 20 lb turkey...but couldn't wait. We have used several times to raost chicken and it is great. The chicken cooked faster than our cookbooks had suggested and it cooked very evenly. Clean up was nice too...just a little hot soapy water was enough to remove the cooked on drippings. We did a lot of comparison pricing before we purchased this item...the price was right in line with many of the cheaper and no name brands that I had seen on sale.

I use this Calphalon Large Roasting Rack in an 18-inch Calphalon Hard Anodized French Roaster, and it works quite well for a 25-lb. turkey. When the roasting has been completed, it's easy to lift this rack out of the roaster and slide the roasted turkey onto a carving board, using washable cloth pot holders. (No need for any special 'poultry lifters.') The roasting rack must be gently washed by hand, using mild liquid soap and a plastic scrubber, if necessary, in order to preserve the nonstick coating. Don't put it in the dishwasher or the nonstick coating could flake off.

This rack is very nice and heavy-duty. I cooked an 18lb turkey on it with ease. The non-stick coating seems durable enough for the purpose and the rack is plenty large and heavy enough. The only reason I am giving it four instead of five stars is that the piece could have easily been made even sturdier by using a few more welds. There are a number of points on the rack where the metal rods simply touch one-another and are not welded. While the rack held my 18lb turkey with no problems, it seems to me that two or three more spot welds by the manufacturer would greatly increase the durability of the item. That being said- it is the sturdiest rack I have found so far.

MY ROASTING RACK ARRIVED TOO LATE FOR ME TO TRY OVER THE YEAR-END HOLIDAYS SO I HAVEN'T FOUND OCCASION TO USE IT YET. HOWEVER, I WAS DELIGHTED WITH IT'S DESIGN, IT'S STURDINESS, AND THE FACT THAT IT IS JUST THE RIGHT SIZE TO USE IN MY LARGE ENAMEL ROASTER. THE PRICE WAS A DELICIOUS SURPRISE! WHAT A BARGAIN!

This rack worked well and cleaned easily. There is one drawback. I found out that the handle-to-handle width is 13.5 inches and the lid of the pan I bought at the same time from Amazon is 13.0 inches. Oops.

This is a very sturdy rack, well-made and just right to go into my new roasting pan. Also was received in record time. Thank you.

I've been looking for the perfect roasting rack for some time now and this is it. It's heavy weight and the entirely covered in a smooth, non-stick coating. The lifting handles are fixed in place but quite generous, allowing room for an oven mitt on your hand. I really like that the "ribs" are thick but widely spaced. They still support your food well but fewer "ribs" are easier to clean when you're done, although it is dishwasher-safe. Definitely the quality you expect from Calphalon. This rack comes in 2 sizes (this is the larger one) and I bought both. Since the lifting handles are fixed (they don't fold down) be sure to measure the roasting pan you will be using to make sure this will fit. If the size works for you, I think you'll be happy with this reasonably priced, well-designed rack.
