An 8-inch chef's knife for chopping large quantities starts the set, followed by a 3.5-inch paring knife for peeling and intricate tasks, and a 6-inch utility knife for everything in between. An additional 6-inch utility knife features a serrated edge equipping it for tasks such as slicing bread or tomatoes. To keep everything in tip-top shape, a 9-inch sharpening steel is included and should be used regularly. Collecting everything in one place and keeping tools at the ready, the 12-slot, countertop, storage block measures 8-1/2 by 9 by 4-1/2 inches and comes with a natural wood finish.
Forged from a single piece of high carbon steel, each blade in the set boasts durability and stain resistance, and finishes with a tapered cutting edge. A full, visible tang stretches the length of each knife to provide strength and balance while sturdy steel bolsters create space for knuckles to remain safe. I bought this set at $39.99 as a gift to my friend. This knives set IS NOT made in Germany and NOT with lifetime warranty. It is made in China and with 10-years warranty. The knives were sharp but handles of the smaller knives may be too narrow to hold. No feedback from my friend yet...

I am not a professional chef, but I do cook on a regular basis. These knives hold their edge quite well, and with a few swipes down the included steel, the edge is back to razor sharp. My sister recently purchased a set of Cutco knives, and spent CONSIDERABLY more on them, and I would choose the Calphalon knives every time.
