What a great find !,
By A Customer
This review is from: Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Collector's Edition 16-Inch Roaster with Rack (Kitchen)
My husband and I were looking for a stainless steel durable roasting pan. We saw the All-Clad, but decided we didn't want to spend that much, so we kept looking. Most retail stores didn't have any other stainless options, other than the All-Clad. Then we came across this one on Amazon for a very reasonable cost, so we ordered it.When we received it, we were glad to see that it has all the great features of the All-Clad, and actually feels thicker and more durable. The large size accommodates a large turkey or ham. The handle design makes it easy to get in and out of the oven, and clean up is a snap. The non-stick rack that comes with it is also a great bonus. It's sturdy, and cleans up very easily. This product is a great value. It looks and performs like a more pricey item, but will better fit your budget. We're very pleased with it's functionality and beautiful finish.

Who needs All Clad?,

This review is from: Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Collector's Edition 16-Inch Roaster with Rack (Kitchen)
I was going to order an All Clad roaster and came across this one. I received it in time for Thanksgiving and found it to be perfect for the 20 lb. turkey and gravy I'm famous for. The pan fit in my small oven of 23" and the handles are vertical so there is no wasted space. I haven't used the non-stick rack because I like lots of goodies in the bottom to make gravy with. The clean up was amazingly easy with the shiny stainless steel gleaming when I wiped it dry. I know I'll have this roaster as long as I prepare turkeys for Thanksgiving and then I'm leaving it to my daughter who will be forever grateful.

I bought this roaster last year to use for holiday cooking and have used it constantly since. It is a gorgeous pan that I got for a song on Amazon. It cleans VERY easily and works beautifully! I have no regrets for not spending the extra dollars to buy the All Clad version (even though I do also LOVE All Clad pans)--this one works so well that there really isn't need to spend that amount.

See the following from "Cook's Illustrated.Com"........,

From it's July 2005 issue:
"During our 1999 rating of roasting pans, we decided that the upright handles, roomy interior, and sturdiness of All-Clad's Stainless Steel Roti ($275) justified its hefty price. Since then, however, we've noticed that our top-rated pan has a tendency to warp slightly on the stovetop while browning roasts or deglazing fond. (The Roti lacks the clad construction-an aluminum core sandwiched between layers of steel-that makes other All-Clad cookware so reliable.) So when we saw that Calphalon's fully clad Contemporary Stainless Roasting Pan features a similar design-and for a mere $100-we brought it in for the challenge. To our delight, the Calphalon did not warp on the stovetop, and its lighter weight made it more responsive to burner adjustments than the All-Clad pan. This new Calphalon roasting pan has everything we want, including a reasonable price. UPDATE: Our July/August Roasting Pan Update highlights Calphalon's Contemporary Stainless Roasting Pan ($100). In the past, this pan has been part of their Tri-Ply stainless line. Until the Tri-Ply Stainless inventory has run out, look for our favorite roaster under either of those Calphalon lines." From JG: I like the fact that the top-rated non-stick rack is also incuded. 1/16/06: I see Amazon has virtually doubled the price. Now $199. 5/11/06: Bed, Bath & Beyond (along with others) has the Calphalon 'Contemporary' (same as the Tri-Ply) on sale at $99.95. Normally, you can also get a 20% off coupon from BB&B so this sounds like a good alternative.

Excellent Buy,
By A Customer
This review is from: Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Collector's Edition 16-Inch Roaster with Rack (Kitchen)
This Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Roasting Pan roasting pan is a terrific buy at $59 (current list price at Amazon). I bought one for Thanksgiving and am very satisfied with its performance in roasting a turkey and roasting beets. With the turkey, the drippings browned nicely and evenly without scorching (at 325°). The handles are sturdy, and cleanup was as easy as any of my other stainless steel cookware (the rest is All-Clad). I have not yet tried this pan on my stovetop, but I anticipate it working well. The bottom is thick with an aluminum core (same as All-Clad), and it should conduct heat as evenly as one could hope. The beets roasted perfectly, too, but a good roasting pan is not required for that task. Cook's Illustrated has not yet reviewed the Calphalon Tri-Ply Roasting Pan; I'm anxious to see how it fares. I can't say that this pan is necessarily better or worse than the All-Clad Stainless Steel Roti because I haven't tried the All-Clad in the kitchen, but I can say this one works fine. You can probably guess at the price difference. For the money, this is an excellent roasting pan.

I wasn't sure about the Calphalon Tri-ply Stainless Roasting Pan when I had purchased it. It's great in the oven and even on the stovetop. I was impressed with this pan. Before I disliked roasting but with this pan, it's terrific. Even the clean up is easy. It's a great buy.

Very Nice Roasting Pan,

(...) This roaster is large enough to cook for a group of people. Tonight I had three whole chicken breasts plus potatoes in the same pan and deglazing was a breeze and the sauce was perfect. I would highly recommend this pan to anyone wanting a good quality, well made roasting pan.
I have not used the included roasting rack yet so cannot comment on it as I don't usually roast meats on a rack but it's nice to have it should I decide to use one.

The Best on the market,
This review is from: Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Collector's Edition 16-Inch Roaster with Rack (Kitchen)
This roasting pan is the best pan out there right now. Its well known competitors roasting pan is twice the price and is not a triply(solid stainless steel). This pan is a great deal!

Thoroughly satisfied,
This review is from: Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Collector's Edition 16-Inch Roaster with Rack (Kitchen)
I wanted a roaster that is not non-stick and sturdy enough to put directly on my gas cooktop, WITHOUT spending a fortune. I was looking for something I could sear meats with, and after roasting in the oven, deglazing the pan without fear of warping it. This is perfect.

Holiday Hype?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Collector's Edition 16-Inch Roaster with Rack (Kitchen)
"It's that time of year" as the song goes. Another holiday gathering, another holiday meal and time to gather the holiday hardware. No beter place to find a great bargain than the internet...right? I thought so. And if you've read as far as this review you know the two contenders for quality bakeware are All Clad and Calphalon (I read these same reviews). The Calphalon pan is touted as being U.S. made and carrying a retail price tag of $220. You probably already know the score on All Clad by now. Desiring to keep as much money in my pocket as possible at this time of year and still wishing to obtain a quality product I opted for the Calphalon. Opon delivery the first thing that met my eye was a phrase on the box stating "Select Savings". Hmmm. How does $220 translate into savings, and "select" at that? The next thing I discovered was the "Made in China" label. Wow. China, Michigan maybe (dunno)? I inspected the roaster and frankly this is another metal pan, stainless...so what. I have pans with aluminum cores and they have a robustness to them that this is lacking. Finally where does the $220 number come from? Not on the Calphalon link. Fact is the pan isn't shown there at all. I did find it on anoter site. $120. That makes more sense. It is worth that. So I saved 20 bucks. Deal of the season? Hmmm. Was this review helpful? Happy Holidays.
