5.0 out of 5 stars Flat is better!
The whisk is indeed flat - and I love it that way!

While you would not want to use this to whip egg whites or cream, this whisk is excellent for using on the stove - especially when cooking in a nonstick skillet or saucepan.

The flat design really helps the cook get into corners when making sauce, and covers more surface area when whisking. This was a surprise to me...

2.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy
I am very dissappointed in this product. I have both the flat and the ballon whisk and both are too flimsy to really get the job done. In order to get enough leverage to whip I have to hold the handle very close to the whisk itself (read egg yolks all over your hand). Not a functional kitchen tool.

This was a surprise to me and this whisk has become a favorite for a wide variety of tasks because I can cook even the stickiest of items at a higher temperature without worrying that it will stick to the pan in a corner or anywhere else.

It also makes a good combination spatula/whisk when making dishes like scrambled eggs. Which is wonderful because it means less dishes to wash!

The handle is comfortable and the whole contstruction is very sturdy and well made. The lack of overlapping wires as in a traditional whisk is also very convenient when it comes to clean up. Also, unlike every other non-stick whisk I have bought, the surface has not flaked off or harmed my non-stick pans.

Give the different shape a try and you will be amazed at how much more you like it for many different tasks.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have tool for any cook, December 3, 2000

I found this tool while searching for a whisk to use in my non-stick cookware. It has two distinct advantages over a traditional "balloon" whisk. 1) You can get all the way to the "corners" of a saucepan when making gravy, etc. and 2) There is no space in the middle for lumps to be trapped. It is wonderful for making gravies, white sauces, and so on, but even non-gourmet cooks will find it useful. It is my tool of choice for mixing up my daughters favorite food - Kraft Mac and Cheese. My only complaint? It should come in a 2-pack, since one is always dirty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome design for a whisk!, October 10, 2001

I sort of had my doubts about this whisk, but now that I have it, I love it! One big advantage is that since it is flat, it will fit in drawers where a normal whisk might not. It takes a little getting used to how it whisks but it does the job nicely and can get into corners that a regular whisk won't. The black color is quite nice, it will hold up a long time and still look great. And of course, won't harm your expensive non-stick pans!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, versatile and a brand you can trust!, July 19, 2001
This review is from: Calphalon Nylon Whisk (Kitchen)
This is a very strong, sturdy cooking utensil! At first i didn't know if this would be a very useful item, but it really has turned out to be. It is shaped very well to make it well suited for many whisking tasks such as getting lumps from gravy and stirring a roux! i recommend everyone have the entire set of calphalon utensils! They are safe with your (very) expensive cookware and work great!

I was looking for a fork to scramble a couple of eggs in the pan. I saw this, and just thought I might need it sometime. It turned out to be exactly what I needed for my eggs. Just a blessing, because I was stumped. A handy gadget.

Excellent in a pan cooking gravies, or in a bowl mixing up something cold. Sturdy hard plastic that is easy to clean! Great value at this price! I used the no shipping if you spend ... to restock my aging kitchen gadgets and didn't have to fight any crowds!

I was intrigued by the design of this whisk and when it arrived I thought "Oh, oh, this is too flimsy to be of any use." I was wrong (first time since 1957). This is fabulous for light sauces and gravies, gets to all parts of the pan which you cannot do with a conventional balloon whisk. The only drawback I found was trying to do something heavy and hot! Polenta cannot be made with this; the heat of the cornmeal seems to soften the whisk while it's in the pot and the gloop is too heavy to be beat with the whisk. With that caveat, I still believe this is a terrific tool. Now, for that polenta, would you like one lump or two?

This whisk works so wonderful. It is a bit hard to get used to at first if you're used to the baloon type. After that I realized it also scrapes the bowl and is much easier to clean. I am very pleased this item.

I usually use this whisk when making eggs, and it works great! I usually rinse and stick it in the dishwasher, and so far I've had no problems with it. Highly recommend!
