Excellent pastry brush from Calphon,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Calphalon Nylon Pastry Brush (Kitchen)
This brush is a must for anyone who is a Calphalon collector. If not, there is no better time to start... They make the best cooking products around and this is no exception! Brissols and handle are made to last forever and it includes a handy hook near the bottom so it can rest on the side of the pot or dish. Uses are endless for spreading any type of sauce or butter on food. Dishwasher safe. Wonderful product!

Not worth the money,

The second time I used this brush clumps of bristles fell out and it is now completely useless. Try a better (and less expensive) brand.

Bristles fell out first one by one, then all at once,

Pastry brushes never seem to last long. I thought that by spending a bit more I would get more use out of this one. At first the bristles fell out one by one, and the second or third time I washed it, the entire head of bristles popped out. If you are looking for a brush that does not lose bristles, I have never found a traditional one that keeps its bristles, but IKEA makes a strange looking pastry brush which has no bristles and therefore cannot lose them, and that's what I have now.

Ugh, bristles!,

If the bristles didn't fall out during the first few uses, this MIGHT be a good pastry brush! Save your money and go for something more durable.

Nice material but too large,
By A Customer

I ordered this brush to quickly be able to spread butter on rolls, a cake pan, whatever. I have found it really too large to use effectively in the butter. It does cover quickly, however. All in all, I would say try Wal-Mart or Target or something first.

Fell Apart the First Time I Used It,

Used my new brush to apply butter on French bread for making garlic bread. It fell apart on the first use. I should have taken my eight dollars and put it down the drain myself, I would have saved on shipping.

Bristles in my food!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Calphalon Nylon Pastry Brush (Kitchen)
I've used this brush twice. Both times I spent far too long picking bristles out of my food. I never ran it through the dishwasher and only treated it with the gentlest of care, but that did not prevent the bristles from falling out. Williams-Sonoma has a real winner in their store, check there before wasting your money on this product.

I washed this once in my dishwasher and the bristles spread out so much that the brush is useless. Calphalon's web site says it's dishwasher-safe, but don't believe it.

MINE BROKE AFTER TWO USES/WASHES,
By A Customer
This review is from: Calphalon Nylon Pastry Brush (Kitchen)
I only used it twice and the whole unit came out after the second wash. Basically a hunk of bristles are bound together with a hunk of glue then shoved into a slot about 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep. There it sits until it gets wet or slippery enough and comes out in one big hunk if tugged on at all. I was about to use it again to brush some melted butter on a loaf of bread and noticed a couple of bristles ready to come off (thats a whole other problem in itself). While pulling those off I decided to gently pull at the tips of the rest of bristles and see if anymore wanted to come out (so I didn't end up eating them later). Next thing I know, the whole unit of bristles come out into my hand. Needless to say I tossed it out after realizing I didnt want to attempt gluing it back together. I have only owned three pastry brushes in my cooking years but none seem to keep the bristles in the brush and off my food and this is the first one to actually come apart. I wouldn't recommend it. Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a good pastry brush that WILL NOT lose bristles?
