Solid information, well presented, March 8, 2011
This review is from: Calvin Coolidge (Presidents) (Library Binding)
This is geared toward students in the middle grades and up -- the text is very readable and offers good graphics, photos, and document reproductions. The format of this book offers students web links (we did not check them all out -- some seemed good) to pursue, and the photograph captions do a good job of rounding out information.
While this book is not as comprehensive about Coolidge's personal life as the book "Calvin Coolidge" by Michael Geoffrey Allen, this book is better for a student doing a report. The brief summaries of each leadership role are helpful and concrete.
I like that this book starts with Harding's death and the midnight telegram to Coolidge, who was staying at his father's house. It sets the stage for a quick-moving and interesting biography.
