Until buying these, he's worn cartoon/superhero briefs ("Underroos") and had never said anything about them being too childish. Because he never said anything, my wife and I didn't think about it. However, being in junior high and very athletic, he spends a lot of time in the locker room. Also, he shares a room with his 16 year old brother who wears "big boy" briefs/underwear. So when he came to me and asked if he could get some different underwear that weren't so childish, I completely understood. Having been his age once and having to change in front of other boys, I remembered how awkward locker rooms can be when having to reveal ones' underwear. So I gave him the opportunity to choose his underwear and he picked these. They were a decent price so I went ahead and bought them.
When they came in the mail, I made sure he tried them on and he was very happy. He says they are much softer than the type of briefs he usually wears and are comfortable enough to wear when playing all of the sports he plays. He likes that they do not have cartoon/superhero characters on them and are just like the kinds of briefs the other boys wear. As well, his older brother wears white Hanes briefs, so I'm sure it makes him feel more at ease and less childish when changing in front of each other in their room. Plus, they hold up much better in the wash and do not fade or lose their color...something which my wife and I very much appreciate.
Most importantly, my son now has good quality and comfortable underwear that HE likes. Calvin Klein does a very good job making underwear, and I'm sure this won't be the last time I buy them for him.Read more ›
These shorts tend to run smaller than other brand, i.e. Gap.
I'd recommend to order a bigger size as per kid's normal size.

My 12-year-old loved them too until I washed them and they went from XL to about L or M. I suggest to buy mens small if your child is an 18H in pants. Read morePublished 2 months ago by BN
