Product Description

Improve your photos with the new generation in portable camera support. Many photos are ruined due to camera shake and low light exposure. The typical solution is your traditional tripod - but this is not always conveniently possible. Now with the introduction of the new generation in portable camera support, you can capture all those precious moments with ease. Cam-Pod allows you to capture rock-steady shots with your digital, film or video camera on just about any surface. Rest it on a fence, tree, rock, wall, rubbish bin, lamp post, table or car window. Cam-Pod is ideal for travel photography when lugging a heavy tripod is not an option. It is easier and quicker to use than a tripod so you won't miss that all important or special shot. Unlike conventional camera bean bags, Cam-Pod has bi-folding cushions, enabling you to mould to the shape of your camera and lens. This folding ability reduces the size and weight, allowing for a smaller and lighter support bag. Cam-Pod comes in two sizes - regular or mini. Use the regular Cam-Pod for film or digital SLR cameras and video cameras. Cam-Pod mini is designed to stabilise compact cameras and point & shoot cameras - both are so small, you can take them anywhere. It's literally like having a "tripod in your pocket" Uses for Cam-Pod : In confined spaces or on uneven surfaces To include yourself in photos In low light conditions Dimensions: 360 x

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy and works great, November 11, 2007
This review is from: Cam-Pod Regular, Standard Size Camera Support System Pad for Film or Digital SLR Cameras & Small Video Cameras. (Electronics)
The Cam-Pod is light and compact. It is easy to stuff in your camera bag or coat pocket and provides a good amount of support for up to a 200-300 mm telephoto lens.

This review is from: Cam-Pod Regular, Standard Size Camera Support System Pad for Film or Digital SLR Cameras & Small Video Cameras. (Electronics)
I ordered this product just before leaving for an international trip to use with my Nikon D40x with an 18-200mm VR lens. I hoped that it would be a good substitute for a mini tripod (i.e. Gorillapod and Ultrapod) because I have had troubles in the past with mini tripods failing to support my camera and lens.

The Cam-Pod did what it was supposed to: It stabilized my camera allowing sharp photos and it held my camera steady on non-flat (even curved!) surfaces. But the Cam-Pod could do more than that. The feature that makes the Cam-Pod stand out from mini tripods and other camera bean-bags is its ability to be reshaped. I could fold it in different ways to point the lens up or down and I could use it to hold my camera in the portrait orientation. I have never gotten a mini tripod to hold my camera (with the big lens) steady in the portrait orientation.

What I don't like about the Cam-Pod is that it's a bit bulky for my taste. It's bigger than an Ultrapod but a bit smaller than a Gorilla Pod SLR Zoom. Also, the Cam-Pod has a very simple construction. I could have easily made this myself with a bit of fabric and some plastic beads. If you're handy with a sewing machine--make one yourself. I would have done so if I had time before my trip.
