Cambridge (MD) (Images of America),
By
This review is from: Cambridge (MD) (Images of America) (Paperback)
This is a pictorial history of Cambridge, Maryland, where I was born and grew up. It is a place famous for the lives of Chesapeake Bay watermen and the hardworking people in the seafood industry. This pictorial journey back to Cambridge shows the visiting viewer some of the incredibly beautiful architecture designed and built by men who longed to make their family homes in a place that offers a pristine life on the Bay. Life sometimes was not so quiet and unspoiled, but dangerous and blemished during the racial riots of the 60s. To one who lived or lives there, these images stimulate the memories of both the pleasures of life on the Chesapeake as well as the dangers and challenges of this beautiful town situated on the Mason-Dixon line. Wonderful photography.

A Beautiful Piece of History,
By Josh Aterovis (Baltimore, Maryland United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cambridge (MD) (Images of America) (Paperback)
I was so impressed by this book by Gloria Johnson-Mansfield and Ann Foley. The book tells the history of Cambridge, Maryland through pictures. Cambridge is a historic village on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The amount of work and love that must have gone into this book is obvious. They say a picture can say a thousand words, and in this book they do, but the well researched captions and explanations that accompany the vintage photographs are a treasure as well. I'm looking forward to the companion book, Dorchester, that I understand is forthcoming.
