First off, I use one of these on my RV. It works great, and rare to find actual good-quality metal ANYTHING now days. It gets pressure below 50-psi...depends on several variables as to how much lower...their ad info is right though, always between 40-50 psi.

As for every one of the reviews I've read here on the 'negatives'...I'd like to point out that this is NOT an anti-hammer reservoir, nor is it a filter. Nasty water at any RV park will most assuredly clog it up to where it won't work...pre-filter between your camp connector and your regulator. That will fix the issue (or, replace your filter element then).

As for 'hammering' due to pressure...this is also a simple fix. Get an anti-hammer reservoir. You can 'rig up' your own, buy a 'house-type' anti-hammer at most any hardware store, or you can buy one like the SHURFLO Pre-Pressurized Tank (available on Amazon). It helps to buffer 'hammer' out of your water system. I find it to work best on RV's, because RV's use vaned-pumps for 'off-system' water, and you get a natural 'stutter' as a result. If you put a small pressurized tank in your system, the tank buffers that vaned-pump stutter, as well as acts like a anti-hammer to on-system water sources.

This is a really good product.

Got one of these when I blew out a couple hoses due to high pressure. While it did reduce the pressure, it caused backflow problems that caused hammering pipes. Resolved that, and the regulator stopped working. Turns out if it sits with backpressure on it it starts to stick. I'm on my second Camco reg and it is now starting to fail. If you use this a lot (I live in my RV, so it gets constant use) go for a good reg. If you only use it occasionally this is probably fine.

This Camco pressure regulator is a must have for anyone who worries that the campsite pressure might be too great and burst the lines in their RV. The device is very simple and is made from sturdy brass. The extended "wings" on the coupler makes it easy to tighten and loosen even while your hands are wet. I simply leave it connected to the white water hose for the RV so that it is ready for the next use.

Very satisfied with the quality of this item...much better than it's plastic counterpart. I would recommend using it with some teflon tape to ensure a good seal.

I bought a plastic regulator at one of the national chains and it was a piece of junk. This can actually be tightened and doesn't leak.

A friend recommended this device, and it was a great purchase. We had blown out so many hoses running a float waterer for our chickens. This device has been a huge money saver.

I put one of these on a spigot with 80 pounds of pressure. When I turned the spigot halfway on, the regulator worked fine, but when I turned the spigot completely on, the regulator snapped into a mode where it completely shut off the water. I had purchased a second one so I replaced the first regulator -- the same thing happened. There seems to be a design defect.

Editing: i guess i don't understand how these are suppose to work. I bought another brand and it did the same thing. Under high pressure they do not regulate the pressure but cut off the water. Then the water stays off until the back pressure eventually reduces.

If this was documented i missed it.

I have purchased three of these units; two without guages and one with a guage. They all leak like crazy and can't be repaired. Junk! Buy an adjustable unit; more money but they acually work and can be repaired if you have a problem.
