I was hesitant when i purchased these vent lids....not b/c of the brand, (i have had great success w/ camco products), but b/c it said if replacing certain vent lids. I had no idea what brand i was replacing, but i took a chance and bought 2. Here's the deal, this is only the lid, it is not a whole unit. there is a metal piece on the back w/ 2 ears you will bend once installed so it will not slide off. So, if you are replacing lids, look on your old lids to see if they have ears to open (unbend) that will allow you to slide the old lid off. It is easy (if you don't have roof coating on the ears). I would buy again.

No instructions as others mentioned. It took me about 10 mins to figure out. Get up on the roof and look how your original cover operates and is installed. Have a helper inside to assist. You shouldn't have to get too rough with any of the existing or new cover parts. With cover mostly raised, uncrimp the end 1/4" tabs on your existing cover hinge, I used a needle nose plier to open up these tabs. Pull the thin retaining clip off of the 1/4" rivet pin on the J shaped elevating arm. Save the clip for installation. Now you can flex the bottom edge of the long slotted track to disengage the flat round head. There's just enough flex in this light weight metal track to do this. I used a flat screw driver tip to flex the bottom the channel. Once you have the arm disengaged, slide the old cover off the hinge. Slide the new cover on the hinge, reengage the pin, crimp ends on new hinge put the clip back on the rivet and your done. Replace the seal around the cover opening while your up there. Buy the seal at the same time you order the cover. Hope this helps more than confuses. This isn't hard just hard to describe.

Hi CG,

Thank you for your review. I wanted to mention that while there are no paper instructions that come with the vent lid, there are instructions printed on the side of the retail box. If you still have the retail box take a look at the side and if you do not see any instructions please give us a call at 800-334-2004.

This allows a lot of light to get through in our bathroom. When we bought our camper we replaced both of the vent lids due to them being extremely dirty. The price on these was a great deal and it took my husband 5-10 minutes to replace. Very easy!

The Camco vent lid fits perfectly on the tubular type hinge which is the most commonly used on roof vents. This lid did not have as much dome as the one being replaced. It does not affect the functionality. The crank open mechanism attaches to the vent by a single bolt hole on the center underside. It is best to open the old vent lid and remove the bolt from the top than to try and remove the screen to get to the bolt. Once the bolt is removed, needle nose pliers were used to release the hinge end tab of the old vent and the old vent slides off to either side. The Camco vent lid is then slipped onto the hinge and the end tabs twisted at each end, again using the needle nose pliers. Replace the bolt holding the lid to the lift lever and it's done.

Note: Don't be confused by hinge styles. The roof vent hinges were standardized well over 10 years ago.

I bought 3 of these to replace my ventline lids that were cracked/broken. These were very easy to install (10-15 minutes per lid) and the construction seemed to be much more durable than the original ventline lids. I would definately buy again!

This was bought as a replacement cover for my husband's enclosed trailer. It fits perfectly and came pre assembled with all the mounting hardware. It was quick to install-- took less than 30 minutes and that was with prep time. It came with a 1 year limited warranty. It is made out of a heavy duty plastic type material so it should be rust proof. It has uv protection and it filters enough light that we can see how to get around without a light during the day.

Works fine, and installs with about as much difficulty as I expected. It was no easier, or harder to install than any previous vents I've had. I've never had this brand before, but it seems like these things get brittle and fall apart from being in the sun after about 5 years or so. So hopefully this brand will be better, but for as cheap as they are, I'll be satisfied if it makes it 5 years, as long as it doesn't have a shorter life span than that.
