I have used the original De-Flappers for years, you know the little wimpy ones. I have had them pull off, break, get loose, even had the fabric straps break. I bought a bunch of extra ones thinking as the quote goes, "quantity has a quality all it's own."

Then I got these monsters last camping season and used them a lot, I'm talking several weeks, in some high winds and also with an occasional heavy wet snow load up in the mountains. I could not be happier with these. I read one review saying they weighed too much. They do weigh a lot, but I don't think that is a bad thing. They weigh a lot because they are truly heavy duty. When you open the box and inspect the de-flappers the weight will be noticeable. It says right in the product description they measure 3 x 7.3 x 12.5 inches and weigh 1.8 pounds (each), shipping weight is 6.2. I can't understand how someone can order something where the weight is disclosed and then complain about the weight; oh well.

I also read reviews saying the knobs come off and I was naturally leary about this. If the knobs have a propensity to do this it has not been seen on my units and I put a lot of torque on them. I know that if the large rubber knob(s) does come off I will simply weld a piece of steel to the head of the bolt (example: link from a chain would work perfectly) and crank it down.

When others I camp with saw these de-flappers they purchased some themselves. If knobs have come off I haven't seen such.

I saved the little de-flappers in case I need them. I have never used them since I got these monsters. Wish I had gotten them earlier.

I bought a set of the Camco De-Flapper Max's at the beginning of the season when I put a new awning fabric on the RV...and let me tell you, they have been great!

They go on and off easily...maybe a minute to install both of them. They are tough, solid, and if cared for, I can easily see them lasting 2-3 hard seasons. They really reduce the flapping...and being over 9-inches long, they don't just 'micro-grab' a little point on your awning, but put a good distributed clamp on it. They are rubber-padded where they touch your fabric, so they don't cause a 'compression cut' over time, either.

Overall, they are the best de-flappers I've ever used. Highly recommend...would buy and use again. Oh, yeah, and I'm posting this after setting them up and using them over 65-times since the start of season, so this isn't a 'just bought them' response.

Had an earlier set of these that held up and performed well however, the new versions are junk. I have gone through 2 sets and need another due to the knobs stripping with the needed torque to hold my awning. The latest style simply has a shallow retainer cup for the bolt head and is grossly under designed. I emailed Camco and received no reply so their not a customer oriented company apparently. I'll return this last set and with the new ones retro-fit a knob with captive bolt to eliminate the design flaw. Big hassle and lack of customer service is very dissappointing.

Great quality and easy to install. I now have four of these on the awning of my 38' 5th wheel trailer. I'm taking it to the Oregon coast where it can get very windy so I will be updating this review, I have had them in 30 mph winds and they have done a fine job. I'm very happy to recommend these to anybody. By the way they come two to the pack.

UPDATE FEB 2014:
I purchased another set. Now I have 4 on each end of my awning. Sounds like over kill but not really. Recently here in Portland we have had heavy snow and ice with winds up to 50 mph. The awning came through with flying colors. It shook and flapped but no problems overall. Then came the ice, still no problems. I would go out twice a day and with a push broom hit the awning from underneath to break up the ice. It slid right off. The flappers held and did there job. 10 stars in my opinion a great product.

PS--- some have said these are poor quality and they strip out. The secret is don't tighten them so much. It doesn't take much for them to grab your awning. Mine have been flawless. Like I say 10 stars!

I bought these for my Sunsetter awning. I have not used them yet, so I can't comment on how they work. BUT, Amazon needs to get the facts straight on this product!! They say the size of each one is 1.1 x 3.3 x 4.2 inches. One reviewer writes they are 3 x 7.3 x 12.5 inches and weigh 1.8 lbs each. Another reviewer writes the are "over 9 inches long"!!! NO!! The ones I got are 2 x 3.3 x 8 inches long and weigh 13.3 oz. If I knew these were 8" long I would not have ordered them. 4" would have been perfect. I will try these when I put my awning up next month and I hope they work OK. The only thing I see right now is that being 8 inches long, they slightly curve up on the ends, and they "may" not hold the awning the whole length. If I had the time, I'd would probably send them back because the are not what is advertised. I will post a follow-up review when I install them on the awning. I have a picture but I don't see where I can upload it.
