Goose bumps, It Came from under the sink! by R.L. Stine is about two siblings named Katherine nicknamed "Kat"and her little brother Daniel. They find a mysterious, mythical creature under the sink in their new house. They find out it is called a grool and that it gives the owner bad luck. They found that information in the Encyclopedia of the Weird and question it's authenticity. They later get suspicious after suddenly a lot of bad things happen to them and have less doubt of it being true.
I enjoyed the book although some parts were really not that scary at all. It was pretty hard to picture some of the things in the book like the grool or lanx which is another mythical creature. If you like really scary books, then this book might not be the typical R.L. Stine book that you would expect. The reason I would recommend this book is because it gives you a break from the pretty scary parts and gets you to relax and get back into reality for a bit. I like mystery books because you don't know what is going to happen next.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's living, it's breathing and it doesn't do dishes!!, May 20, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: It Came from Beneath the Sink! (Goosebumps Series) (Paperback)
Kate and her brother Dan just moved to a new house. They think it's pretty awesome at first, but then they found something living under the sink. It gives off bad luck, but they think it's just a coincidence. Kate and her brother find out that the creature is a Grool. It can not be killed by force. If Kate gives it away, she will die.
I think that this is a good book, and I don't read that much. It all makes sense at the end. This is one of my favorite books!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book Review of: It Came from Beneath the Sink!, May 27, 2011
A Kid's Review
This review is from: It Came from Beneath the Sink! (Goosebumps Series) (Paperback)
It Came From Beneath the Sink by R.L. Stine is part of the Goosebumps series. There are two kids in this book called Daniel and Katrina but everybody calls her Kat. Kat and her family are so lucky they just moved in a new house with tons of rooms, two balconies, and a lawn the size of a football field. But all that luck is about to run out because there's something really evil living in there new house. Something that's moving. Watching. Waiting. Something that came from beneath the kitchen sink. Read beware: you're in for a scare! Look for other Goosebump titles: the Barking Ghost, One Day at Horror Land, Say Cheese and Die, The Werewolf of Fever Swamp, and more. And look for Goosebumps 2000 Times the Scares. And Goosebumps Horrorland. R.L. Stine is master of fright. In It Came From Beneath the Sink something is cruel in Kat's new house. Something that's warm, breathing, and it doesn't do dishes! I give Goosebumps It Came From Beneath the Sink 5 out of 5 stars.

This book rocks! Not only is there a breathing evil sponge but a potato with sharp razor teeth...you can't get better than that. The story was very interesting, scary, funny and even awkward. It kept me reading for hours....I wish my sister would find a sponge of her own and leave me alone!

This book was okay, but if you're a Goosebumps fan like me, you know you can get better stories with the other books. Say, The Horror at Camp Jellyjam or Stay out of the Basement would be great books to buy. 'Cause this one just isn't scary. It just isn't. Okay, maybe it would be scary to you if you found a mutant sponge under the sink, but believe, me YOU ARE NOT IN FOR A SCARE. I reccomend that you go out and buy other Goosebumps books that have good reviews. Who knows, maybe I'll be there. But I'm just warning you that this isn' scary at all- it's got it's funny parts.

5.0 out of 5 stars its about A bad luck charme, called a Grool., December 3, 1996
By A Customer
This thing that look like a sponge is getting down right anoying for Kat, and Daniel for exampel once they buried the Grool in there yard, the next morning everything at that part of the yard was dead and trust me that is not the worst thing that happened to know the parts that are worse than this you can read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Middle School Student's Perspective, January 11, 2012
This review is from: It Came from Beneath the Sink! (Goosebumps Series) (Paperback)
A book Review of It Came From Beneath the Sink
By Julie, Grade 7, Yangon International School

Imagine a mythical creature, living under a sink, which brings bad luck. It cannot be killed with violence or fire or water. The protagonist, Katrina in the novel It Came From Beneath the Sink tries to kill this mythical creature. But, the options she has are limited. Robert Lawrence Stine, an author of hundreds of horror novels, selling over 400million copies since 2008, creates an absorbing and fascinating plot.

Katrina is the protagonist of this novel. Her misfortune was decided when she opened the sink on her new house. An old sponge was inside the sink; one that seemed to be alive! After she began taking care of the old sponge, people near her sustained injuries. Later, she discovered out it's because of the old sponge's condition. The sponge breathed loudly whenever someone sustained injury. Katrina and the sponge had an attractive conflict that grabbed the reader's attention. She tried to kill the sponge and had to face many complications as a result, but the events that came back to her were terrible incidents. By the result, Katrina developed an amazing plan. Could she figure out the problem?

This book is one of my favorite horror books. As a result, the content of the book was so fascinating that I wanted to read and read. And the conflict between Katrina and the old sponge was certainly intriguing, because when Katrina tried to kill the sponge, the sponge brought more and more bad lucks. And that was repeating so I wanted to know what will happen next. This book undoubtedly made me concentrate at this book.

People who like horror can read this book. And even the people who are scared of horror books can read, because is not certainly scary. On a scale of 1 to 5, I give this book a 4, because this is a fascinating book and has an attractive conflict, but this book is kind of simple. But it was absolutely good for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bad sponge, March 8, 2010
This review is from: It Came from Beneath the Sink! (Goosebumps Series) (Paperback)
Kat and Daniel are thrilled about their new house. Until Kat finds that thing under the sink, that is. It looks like a sponge, but it has eyes, teeth and can snicker. It bring bad luck and the owner dies if he/she gives it away.

This is a good story. It may not be very scary, but it would've been if such a creature actually existed!
