The interesting thing about this version is that it really takes you from soft beginning to crescendo and then back down again. There is definitely some "country" aspects to this, but (esp. somewhere around the middle) it is dominated by the slightly distorted electric rock guitar sound and drums that come in gradually then take it over, then return to a soft landing. I enjoyed the singing voice, but honestly, the entire piece just got too loud for me and took me right out of the mood that it started with. However, there are a good many of you that like just that kind of ride. It is a matter of taste, I suppose.

If you are a little bit of a hard rocker, especially with a country edge, this will work well for you.

I totally fell in love with this version of It Came Upon a Midnight Clear the first time I heard it. It takes a classic and spices it up a bit with just the right amount of rock. Great effects used on the guitar and it makes the song feel a lot more poignant, in my opinion, than the Bing Crosby version I grew up with. No slight to Bing Crosby - I love the guy - but this is a cool modern take on the song.

This is Amazon's best free daily Christmas song thus far, IMHO. It sounds great, and the drums are rockin! Merry Christmas everyone!

I bought this album a few years ago after a brief listening to it and LOVE IT! It's probably my favorite Christmas album in my collection. They have really good renditions of the Christmas favorites, unlike other artists who can typically "ruin" the song for you if they add their own flavor to it. This will please Mercy Me fans, along with most Christmas season song lovers.

MercyMe is one of my favorite Christian groups, and they did a fantastic rendition of this song. Merry Christmas to you!

I hadn't paid much attention to this song before this version came out. Now it tops my list of favorite Christmas songs. Another great one from Mercy Me!
