5.0 out of 5 stars Camel - Coming of Age - WOW!, February 10, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Camel: Coming of Age (DVD)
I've got Camel's Footage I, Footage II, Pressure Points, the this disc, Coming of Age. Although the Footage duo has some great archival video, Coming of Age is by far, the best performace by Andy Latimer available on disc. Blistering, evocative guitar, great band, wonderful camera angles capturing the overwhelming majority of Latimer's virtuoso performance.

It's not the old Camel, but if you want the most and best of Latimer, or if you want to buy just one DVD of Camel, or just want to try something new and GREAT, this is the DVD for you!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great DVD record of Camel at their second zenith, July 24, 2007
By
Bob Womack (Virginia, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Camel: Coming of Age (DVD)
Having listened to Camel since the '70s, I went into this purchase with mixed feelings. Frankly, I wondered if Andy was able to pull together a good representation of the Camel sound live that far out from the inception. When you coupled that with the fact that I hadn't heard either Dust and Dreams or Harbour of Tears, which make up the second half of the concert, in their entirity, I approached the DVD with some reservation.

Having watched Pink Floyd's P*U*L*S*E DVD as my last DVD concert, I was primed for the moon. Pulse is one of the highest-budget concert records of ten nights of the largest concert tour and stage show ever. Given that Camel, being a journeyman band, had recorded the DVD on one night at a club, I knew this DVD wasn't going to match the packaging and scope of Pulse, so I set myself up for dissappointment. I needn't have. The intimate setting and packaging of this DVD better matches the music contained. Andy and Co. had a GREAT performance of some very complicated, demanding music and pulled it off spectacularly. This is an excellent concert DVD, a great reintroduction to Camel for anyone who has missed out on the last few years, and well worth the investment.

Bob

5.0 out of 5 stars Are these rip-off prices some sort of joke?, March 20, 2009

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Camel: Coming of Age (DVD)
This is a fantastic DVD! I've watched it so many times over the years that I just realized my copy won't play anymore because it's too scratched up. I just ordered a brand new copy from Camel Productions for less than twenty dollars, about twenty-five including postage. Why are the sellers on this page screwing customers so badly? This is ridiculous! Who is AmyBookBargain? Why are they asking $2400 for a used copy of this DVD? Is it some sort of joke? A really bad typo? Why are other sellers asking $80 and more? If you want a copy of this DVD, go to Camel Productions dot com and deal directly with the artist.
