It has a snug, comfortable, adjustable fit, and it does NOT bounce at all.

I started running regularly a few months ago. I wanted to carry water, but didn't want to carry bulky, sloshing water bottles. FYI, I'm a male, 6'0" tall, 190lbs.

I was already a fan of Camelbak backpacks for hiking, so I bought the Camelbak Flashflo (Camelbak FlashFlo 1.3-Liter Hydration Pack) running pack. It had the largest water capacity, at 1.3 liters, but I had two problems with it. Firstly, when full of water the pack lost its flat shape and felt like I had a heavy football strapped to my back. I had to really cinch it down to stop it from bouncing around, which wasn't completely comfortable (I even got bruises on my hips). My petite girlfriend couldn't wear it all all when it was full because of this issue. If I filled it half full then it stayed flatter and felt better, but then what's the point of buying the largest capacity pack? The second problem is the screwcap on the water bladder. The Flashflo uses a large cap with a tight fit, like on their hiking bags, and it can be very tough to unscrew (even for weightlifters like me!). The cap and bladder both fit inside the pack, so you have to remove the bladder every time you need to fill it. Not a huge deal, but not nearly as convenient as packs with external caps.

I then bought a Camelbak Alterra running pack. Wow, what a huge improvement! It doesn't carry as much water as the Flashflo, but it's still plenty for me for runs up to two hours. This pack is very comfortable, and you can secure it just snugly (not tight), and it doesn't bounce around at all.

Amazing product, I've used it for running 6-10 mile distances so far. It has a snug, comfortable, adjustable fit, and it does NOT bounce at all. I considered purchasing a regular running pack with 2 or 4 water bottles, but on testing those products, my arms would hit the bottles. With running packs with one large bottle located on the lower back, it was more of a hassle to reach the bottle than it was to use the drinking tube on the Camelbak. The Camelbak has clips on the waist strap to hook the tube so that it doesn't dangle or interfere with running. I would whole-heartedly recommend.

In preparation for walking the breast cancer 3-day, I hunted high and low for the perfect hydration pack. I really like this one- its comfortable, and has storage for keys, ipod, sunscreen, etc. I really can't think of any downsides to this product. I recommend it!

Love it!. Comfortable to wear. Easy to use. Product seems to have all the kinks worked out where previous hydration packs failed. Price is worth it.

This is a very cheap product and this is how it performs. The mouth guard fell off on the first use, and the reservoir never sealed perfectly. But the biggest problem is that when running, the Alterra really messes up your stride. It is advertised as a running hydration pack but it is COMPLETELY unsuitable for this. It would work well for hiking or maybe biking (I didn't try this), but DO NOT buy it for running!

This is a great product but those with a small body frame may not be able to cinch down the belt tightly enough. It needs to be cinched down well so that it does not bounce. I am 5'8" and 130 lbs and have the belt as tight as it will go. Otherwise, the product is excellent quality and design. It is about equivalent to a small water bottle & provides me with almost enough fluid for about a 2 hour run.
