QUINCE: Flowering quince (Chaenomeles speciosa or Japonica) is an old-fashioned deciduous shrub that American farmers of the 1800s often grew on their homesteads for its beauty and sometimes for a little bit of fruit. It's a bit of a mystery why farmers chose to grow this plant, as it does not produce large amounts of quality fruit--it is thought perhaps they simply loved the beauty of its early spring flowers.

'Cameo' Flowering Quince - Chaenomeles x superb 'Cameo'

DWARF FLOWERING QUINCE. Beautiful slow growing quince with double flowers of a delicate pale peach. Plant can eventually reach 3' to 3 1/2' and maybe slightly wider in time. Extremely attractive when in flower and always receives lots of comments and attention.

After an unfortunate start, Hirts Garden was willing to work with me by replacing one of the two quince plants I ordered. Although the original died, the replacement is doing well and is showing some life. I sincerely appreciate Hirts Garden's cooperation in replacing one of the two original plants I ordered.
